I jumped onto this title with #7. I really liked the cover, and I wanted to check out a Blade story. There are four separate stories. The one that most interested me, though, was the one-shot featuring Namor. In the story, Namor battles his deepest fears and personal demons. It is of superior quality, and would make for a great ongoing title.

I just went to the official website and saw this cover for #9...it looks awesome.

I'm getting a red X for the cover.

Anyway, I'm still reading MCP. I'm curious about the Vanguard story, although it hasn't been as good lately. I also want to know what's going on with Guardian because I liked Omega Flight. It's always good to see US Agent and Arachne in action, too. The Namor story was good this month, but I really wasn't into that 3-part Ka-Zar story. I've always found Ka-Zar kind of dumb, plus the art was atrocious.

Yeah, I didn't even bother with that Ka-Zar story. Isn't there supposed to be a McGuinness Hulk story in here at some point?

I've actually been enjoying the Stacy Dolan story, and the Vanguard stuff is starting to heat up...

ka-Zar was a bit disappointing, but the final chapter was good, and actually moved continuity along a bit; The Savage Land and Wakanda are now allies, in kind of an "any attack on the Savage Land is now considered an attack on Wakanda" deal...we'll see if any other writers run with that...

Unfortunately, sales are in the toilet. I'll be surprised if this book goes any further than issue #12...

Yeah, I'm expecting it to finish out the Guardian and Vanguard stories and then end.

Also, I can see the cover Cosmic posted now, and it does indeed look pretty amazing.

Ka-Zar can be a great character. It really depends on the creative team, IMO. And, I wouldn't go so far as to say the art was atrocious. I think the dinosaurs, at least, were drawn quite well. But overall, it would have been better if all of those pages had been used for the Namor story, instead.

I always loved the MCP format, even though it is often a bittersweet affair.
It's a great place to see heroes and villains you usually wouldn't hear much about, along with fan favourites.
You might not like Ka-Zar, but maybe one day they'll have a short of one of the characters you'd never think you'd see again... For me that be Sleepwalker, Darkhawk, or Deathlok... Characters that don't really have a hope in hell of getting another ongoing and might not be so lucky as to get a mini, but at least they might grace the pages of MCP for a good 8 pages.

So far my favorite story was the Hellcat story, the rest have been not so good, although I am sort of enjoying Omega Flight's story. The Vanguard one is pretty boring, but the last page of last issue got my attention a little bit :p

Wonder if BRB is going to be covered in this, if they bring him back or if it'll strictly be a SI story.
I didn't even know about this, Had I known about the Omega flight tie in I would have picked it up. Yet another book I didn't see on the shelves of my LCS.

It's not so much an Omega Flight story as it is a Guardian story. We haven't even seen all of the members of Omega Flight in that story, and the ones we have seen seem to have forgotten Beta Ray Bill ever existed. The story is 100% about Guardian and his wonky powers.

Ah ok basically giving him more background I take it?

No, it's actually just about the instability of his powers and how there's a bunch of corrupt bastards in Department H who are manipulating him.

ok That actually sounds like a good story.

It's been the best out of the MCP stories so far, in my opinion. US Agent is trying to uncover the secrets in Department H because he senses something's not quite right with their treatment of Guardian. I'm a gigantic Avengers West Coast fan, so it's always great for me to see US Agent. Arachne made an appearance last issue, too. Good times despite Bill's absence.

DERNIT Wish I knew about this book!

They'll probably collect it in a trade after the two 12-part stories are done.

Hope so, I'd settle for a TPB

It'd probably read better anyway. 7 or 8 pages just isn't enough to really get into a story; it's over before you even notice.

heh kinda like the normal amount of Preview pages for a comic.

That is one of the setbacks, that and the fact that you might have to persevere through 12 issues for an underwhelming ending, or your just buying the 12 issues for that one story.

Its a hell of a way to suck people in to keep buying the dam magazine though, they always have something else starting when one is ending, and it just might be something good.

People who really love Marvel should buy this book, because it has stories from all over the place. There was one Magneto story that was kinda cool, and Ka-Zar two part story is said to have repercussions in the future (he sort of made the Savage Land into a place that no one can enter again).

I still haven't received #8 in the mail, yet, I agree with Bubonic about the appeal of the MCP format. Even if you don't like all of the stories or characters that are featured, there's probably going to be something in there that you like, and it'll be just enough to make you want to see what they have to show you next month. And...pretty girl just walked in, lost my train of thought.

Or, looking at it from another perspective, you'll be interested in one story but not care about the other three and thus feel ripped off that you had to pay full cover price for 1/4th of a comic.

Not at all. That Namor story from #7 was very short, but the satisfaction I gleaned from reading it matched or exceeded what I get from most full comics I read. The other stories, while they didn't exactly enthrall me, were at least worth a look. So, I don't feel that I only got 1/4th of a comic.
