There are times when I wished I wasn't covering San Diego. Don't get me wrong, San Diego is a lot of fun, but it is work. As a result, there are tons of seminars I would love to attend but end up missing because we're working to get coverage to you. It would be great to just attend as a geek. If you've never been, I recommend it, as it's the Pop Culture Mecca, and there's always about 5 things on at any one time you'll want to attend.
This year is no exception, with loads of seminars planned, and the organising committee is in the process of revealing what's going to be going on over the course of the four main days.
Now, I've been suspecting for a while now that San Diego is where we could see an announcement on the future of Marvel Legends, and as the event has drawn closer, it seems more and more likely. Whether we'll see actual prototypes or not remains to be seen, but the next issue of ToyFare has a piece on the future of Marvel Legends, indicating that there's a chance. However, some indiciation of the future of Marvel Legends, and other lines has been given by this seminar that was revealed by the Comic Con organisers for the Saturday (2 weeks today)
2:00-3:00 Hasbro/Marvel: Marvel Legends. Spider-Man Origins. Superhero Squad and much more! Find out what its all about at the first Hasbro/Marvel panel ever! Jesse Falcon from Toy Biz joins Hasbro team members Billy Lagor, Randy Shoemaker, and Brian Wilk. Dont miss this opportunity to see a sneak peak of what Hasbro has in store for their spring 2007 Marvel line. Room 8
Now whether Marvel Legends will still be the same line we know and love remains to be seen (rumors are currently that it's very faithful). Spider-Man Origins sounds like a Spider-Man Classics type line and I'm not sure about "Superhero Squad"... sounds like a Spider-Man & Friends kids line. Of course, in 2 weeks time, we'll find out I was way off mark.
Anyways, it looks like this is where everything for 2007 finally gets revealed.
