Marvel July Solicitations

Iron Man and Nova caught my eye this month. Both look absolutely bad ass.

NOVA's always been bad-ass. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN was merely pretty good until DARK REIGN gave it a boost. :o

I always get a kick out of how many times you can post saying the exact same thing.

;)

Yeah, pretty ticked about the $4 price tag on Uncanny. I hadn't even noticed it until someone mentioned it above. Hopefully it's just for the Utopia storyline, because if it's not then the book is dropped. It's not been anywhere near enough to justify a $4 price tag.

Best way to ensure I am heard. I've barely begun. ;)

What, UXM isn't adding the usual sketch/preview material to justify the extra buck? Isn't a 5 page preview of BLACK PANTHER (or something) worth an extra dollar? I mean, otherwise you'd need to surf online for a whole 15 seconds to find it for free!

I am kidding, I do agree it is getting ridiculous.

You must suck at being funny to feel it necessary to explain your sarcasm immediately after. Either that or you think everyone is stupid:csad:

Someone's cruising for an argument.

I wisecrack a lot in real life but on a message board you can't get vocal tones and thus my humor doesn't translate. People never expect a wisecrack post from me so I am usually taken seriously with everything I type. Thus, a pre-emptive explanation. ;)

Comments on the IGN previews:

- Think Marvel is milking DARK REIGN too much? Golly, I sure don't.

- Wait...is Fraction taking over on DARK AVENGERS?

- DR: FANTASTIC FOUR #5 has the obligatory showdown between the Four and the Dark Avengers. Looks like fun. Although if fire is still a weakness for symbiotes, Human Torch should take down Gargan-Venom real fast. I mean, he has fought Venom before.

- I still am iffy on getting DARK REIGN: LETHAL LEGION.

- The solict for DARK REIGN: YOUNG AVENGERS #3 makes absolutely no sense, but at least that means no spoilers. :o

- Yay for what seems to be TWO issues of AGENTS OF ATLAS in July! Nay for treating Namora's crush on Namor as a "relationship". Ick. One would think tidbits about cousin-love would have left after the 60's did. It also looks like after a random guest shot by New Cap, the agents are about to run into the Hulk.

- The new order takes over in AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE #26 and it looks pretty interesting. The storyline reminds me of a lot of the premise behind the last NEW WARRIORS series, only Gage will likely execute it better.

- MIGHTY AVENGERS #27 suggests that Quicksilver will be sticking around after all, and that Slott is making up a new villain, some mysterious monarch called The Unspoken. New villains these days haven't been the easiest thing to come up with; for every group like The Pride from RUNAWAYS, you have forgettable flunkies like Morlun. It also looks like Pham will return on art, and just needed a break after a few issues. The cover is bad-ass though.

Is anyone else wondering what the hell Deadpool is doing in so many books now?

Typo. :o

If you were funny you would have said bruising. See, cuz it rhymes:csad:

But that's rather cliche'.

Is anyone else wondering what the hell Deadpool is doing in so many books now?

Enjoying his first ever ****ing due to movie appearance.

Indeed. Any character with a movie or a major role in one gets ****ed out a bit.

Although, considering we are usually always drowning in Wolverine material, the next few months will push the overkill into Curt Cobain O.D. levels.

What? Too soon? :p

- The cover for CAPTAIN AMERICA #601 looks good, although it will be $4, of course. It's hard to root for your heroes getting anniversary specials when it just means shelling out more money.

Remember, this issue is going to be another double-sized issue. Third in a row, actually. :)

It's Kurt Cobain and he didn't OD, he blew his head off with a shotgun. :)

The full solicits are up at Marvel.com.

No Daredevil #500 this month, apparently.

The rumours of Reborn by Brubaker, Hitch and Guice are true, though there isn't a solicitation yet.

Hardcover collection of the first two Incredible Herc stories (the WWH tie-ins and then "Against the World").

Ew, Namor and Namora are gonna have a "relationship"? That doesn't sound like a cousinly relationship, either. I know they've been foreshadowing this, but still... icky. And I guess we're getting two Agents of Atlas issues in July for some reason. Not that I'm complaining.

Dark Reign: Lethal Legion sounds cool. I'm a little wary of Tieri, since I tend to not enjoy his writing a lot, but I'll probably give it a try.

I can't wait for Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers to start. I'm glad Marvel's putting out some unabashedly fun, light-hearted books like this to balance out all the Dark Reign, villains-as-heroes-and-the-public-loves-them stuff.

So Reborn has a missing solicitation and it's about someone for whom a star is significant. All signs point to Cap, but it may be a little too obvious. I imagine they'll reveal more information on it at the next convention. When is that?

Dark Reign: Young Avengers probably has the weirdest solicitation of the month. Cool cover, though.

Man, what a shame that Loeb is on the Hulk for his 600th issue. :csad:

Damn, you know a costume is bad when not even Djurdjevic can make it look good. They really gotta change Quicksilver into something that doesn't suck. But, on the plus side, Djurdjevic's doing Mighty Avengers covers and it sounds like Slott is going to give us his first original villain of the series. Curious how it'll tie into War of Kings.

I hope I'm mistaking M for someone else on that X-Factor cover. Honestly, Siryn and M fighting sounds like the very last thing that X-Factor needs, especially since it's finally managed to get back to its earlier, high level of quality in recent months.

X-Men: Legacy continues without Chuck as a Gambit, Rogue, and Danger book, huh? I'll have to give some thought to whether that's enough for me to continue reading it. I don't give a s*** about any of those characters and, in fact, I actively dislike Danger. But I'm still interested in the book out of pure curiosity to where Carey can possibly take the book next. It's been nothing but unexpected direction after unexpected direction so far, which is refreshing because, although the directions are unexpected, they still make sense.

The new direction for Avengers: The Initiative is, of course, not unexpected at all. But it sounds really good. I hope Counter-Force or the New Warriors or whatever the hell Vance's team is calling itself these days is part of that resistance to the new order at the Initiative. And, seriously, changing the name of the camp is just low.

I wonder what the big change to iHerc is? I'm guessing they drop the "Incredible" since the Hulk is taking that back now.

Awesome, they're releasing the original Guardians of the Galaxy and New Warriors stuff in trades starting in July. I'm definitely gonna get those.

Not too into the Annihilation Classic trade, though. I'd prefer full arcs of those characters' comics instead of just one issue of Nova and Quasar and such.

You know I'm pretty sure Moon Knight has been canceled. It hasn't previewed for two months. While Moon Knight the character is in my top five the title lost more and more steam as it went along and the delays early on didn't help. The only awesome arc was the first one and since then it went downhill except in the art department. But i wouldn't be surprised if it was canceled and would love it if it got revived later on with a writer like Aaron or someone similar.

You know, i consider myself a Millar fan but seriously WTF man?? His FF4 finale isnt even gonna have Bryan Hitch on art, its gona have Immonen! Whatever happened to Hitch being way ahead of schedule? And where the heck is the finale to Old Man Logan???
