Echo Marvel Studios' Echo General Discussion Thread

I think its pretty well established by now, that every Disney+ show will have a crowd coming to it to see someone Not Related To The Show At All, who will then get angry when their unjustified expectations are dashed. I confidently expect that there will be backlash to Moon Knight for not being a backdoor X-Men pilot.

I can’t believe the actress they cast as Echo has never done any other part before. That’s a helluva gamble.

A lot of people think it will be more Daredevil and less about Echo. I don't think it will be the case. The focus is on Echo, but if Daredevil is in it, he could be more like how Mobius was in Loki, a significant character in the series, but someone who won't overshadow the main character.

They sort of removed all the Daredevil connections from her backstory and the motivation for her and Daredevil to be involved.

Hmm I don't mind the character getting a spin off. A spin off is good to further develop someone but a series?

Can't Marvel Studios make straight to streaming films too?

I feel like Disney is ordering most of these series, so they would have brand new content every week and they could spread out releasing episodes for weeks, which they cant do to a movie.

A series is also good for character development. I'm assuming it will be a mini series just like the other live action marvel shows so far (except for Loki).

They could. Doesn't seem to be something they want to do currently, though. Theatrical releases are for their big budget "hopefully this will make a billion" franchise movies so far.

Probably. All I care about is if its good/entertaining.

We don’t know yet, how long the Halloween and Holiday special will be. Imho they’ll be longer then an episode for a TV series. Probably 70min, which is almost movie length

Series bring/keep people coming back. If they do specials/films, then it's one and done and a long wait between. Series means they have multiple months of subscriptions coming in.

Just realized that Alaqua and Charlie share the same last name…wonder if they’ll have a romance in the series.

I have got to check out Reservation Dogs as I hear nothing but good things about it.

So this could be the 2nd MCU series in 2023. Probably in Q2/23

This one is going to need a really great trailer or I fear a lot of people could skip it. Hawkeye didn’t do a good enough job of introducing her.

Streaming exclusively on Disney, the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.
Does anyone know if this is based on any comic storyline? I think it will probably be mostly original, right? The whole main cast seems to be Native American. Echo is Cheyenne. Maybe they'll introduce someone like Red Wolf? Probably no Moonstars or Forge yet..

Yeah, depending on the early reviews, I might skip this one. Hawkeye was the worst Disney+ show to date so I’m skeptical of this project despite not being led by the same show runners.

which early reviews? They started filiming a few weeks ago…

I really didn't see the point of introducing her in Hawkeye. I would've made it about Yelena going after Clint from the start.

It’ll probably introduce Daredevil into the MCU - that’ll be the selling point
