Marvel Studios should make a Stan Lee Biopic

Would be an interesting way for them to break the mold, but in a relevant way, if nothing else.

Still, as with any other production, it would need the right team behind it, or it could backfire in their faces.

Well they're branching out with GOTG and Big Hero 6 so I think a biopic might be a great idea, especially when he passes. It would be a fantastic tribute to a person who built this empire. Heck it could win an Oscar or be nominated if they release it at the right time.

I'm not sure I'd want to see a biopic that's just set around Stan (I liked the documentary he had though) but I think a period piece that's set around the entire Bullpen during the 60s when they're cranking out everything, and that shows some of the BTS drama that went into the creation of all of it, could be interesting.

True, but I was speaking in regard to the comic book movie shtick. I'm fairly certain that Feige was asked if MS would explore movies outside of the superhero genre, but I can't remember for sure.

Either way, I think you're onto something here. My only hope is that it wouldn't be a one-sided biopic; I'd rather see something that showed the good, bad, and everything in-between, kinda like Ray. The last thing I'd care to see is Marvel stroking their own ego...or in other words, another Saving Mr. Banks. Keep it honest, yet interesting.

Good luck being anywhere near as good as Crumb, which was robbed at the Oscars.

I'd love that. His autobiography book is real enjoyable read. He's led a very interesting life.

I would watch it and love it but I don't know who could play the lead

It'd be nice if in this movie they could get a plethora of actors who've been in various Marvel films over the years as cameos and supporting roles while they get a total unknown to play Stan Lee. They could get people as far back as the first X-Men or Spider-Man film to be in it.

It'd be interesting to see the stan lee cameo in that movie.

Who are the characters, besides Stan? Martin Goodman? Stan's wife? His kids? The Marvel offices staffers?

What's the dramatic angle here? Frustrated middle-aged comic-book writer finally hits his jackpot with the 60s-era characters?

this might be entirely too controversial, especially regarding the creative conflicts over credit/money involving Kirby, Ditko, etc.

Also there was Stan Lee's own lawsuit (separate from the "Stan Lee Media" case) involving the Spider-Man movie profits.

Also, where do you begin and where do you end the film? the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s?

On a side note- DisneyWorld should be hiring Stan to do dialogue/introductions at the various Marvel rides and exhibits.

What would be the drama exactly? I don't know much about Stan's personal life.

No more controversial than The Social Network.

It should begin in the 60's and chronicle the creation of famed comic characters and the beginnings of the juggernaut brand of Marvel with how they cemented themselves in the minds of audiences and I think it could best end with the premiere of a Marvel movie, either X-Men, Spider-Man or The Avengers, the three movies which created the biggest impact from Marvel.

As much as I love Stan and Marvel Studios, I think this would be a little too one-sided coming from Marvel.

But I guess biopics typically are.

Another problem is how do you find an actor who can embody Stan Lee's personality and voice?

Jesse eisenberg maybe?

Anyway, about the subject matter, I would like them to focus on his Jewishness and how he came to prominence in a time that wasn't exactly Jewish friendly and changed comics forever. I would like to see how marvel became a voice for everyone who felt like they didn't quite belong

Maybe not Marvel Studios, but someone should definitely make one.
Who would play Stan?

For some reason, when I think of who could play older Stan, the only actor that comes to mind is Stanley Tucci. No idea who could play him as a young man.

I'd love to see Stan cameo at the end.:awesome:

I'd love it.A little behind the scenes enactments of the creation of some of Stan's greatest creations, interspersed with some of his personal struggles.

I could kind of picture someone like David Krumholtz doing it. Maybe Ben Feldman ?

It should start in the 40's with Timely if it's truly a biopic about Stan Lee.

It would be awesome to see. I don't think Marvel Studios can do it. That'd be like a government documentary on the military. You can smell the bias from here. Mmmm... partisanship.

If they do make one, I know who could play him.
