I just prefer the idea that of vampires being more as monsters that used to be people than sex idols. I liked how they did it in the Anita Blake novels where they had the whole Masquerade for centuries then vampires were shown to be real and then they started campaigning for equal rights, eventually getting them and werewolves and other monsters came out as well all going for equal rights. It was a neat idea.
