Mass Effect 2

I guess I'll forget about the PS3 version and pick up the comic on my 360, then. Anything to avoid driving that goddamn Mako again. :argh:

I just finished playing the demo and this is going to be a definite buy for me but did anyone feel in the beginning of the Demo where you have to go rescue Joker that it felt like really laggy?

i got to try out the demo and i can say im hyped for it. i only played the first part to avoid spoilers but i can see why everyone talks about it so much. i like the simplicity of the controls as well.

I think that's part of the game. It does it on the 360 version, too.

I just chalk it up to the "space pressure" in the cabin or something.........

Yes.

Warp will deal damage to armor and barrier but not shields. Shockwave will stun shielded enemies and do a little damage to their protection.

Singularity does drain protection.

You need to use your power in conjunction with another Biotic teammate to get the Biotic combinations off.

So for example, you would activate Singularity and once their in the air Miranda would use her warp.

I suppose if you're fully maxed out on your skills and with upgrades you might be able to fire off Warp before your Sing wears off due to reduced cooldown times and such but that won't happen until the last 3rd of the game if at all.

hey, thanks for the tips. I really appreciate that!

I've found, in my current replaying, that the Mako still doesn't bother me.

It's doing all those effing sidequests that I don't want to do but I know they carry into ME2, in such minor, trivial ways and so I have to do them.

As Minsc would say: RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGHHHH

lol yeah, I even go out of my way to do the collectibles quests, and I get out of the Mako for more XP per kill until I'm lvl 50. I could rush it in 10 hours but then I won't get all those sweet e-mails and import bonuses in ME2 hahah.

It might have just been the demo, coz that part has always runs smooth for me. Then again I'm admiring the hole torn in the roof. Gives me chills everytime. :awesome:

.

I refused to do the element collection this time around. I can't take that punishment again.

Just finished my ME1 playthrough.

I agree with El Bastardo, whilst the Mako is far from the greatest vehicle in the world its really the sidequest themselves that drag the game down pretty badly. The Cerberus questline and the Geth incursion (which you need to do to complete Tali's pilgrimage) are particularly monotonous.

The game really lights up during Eden Prime, Virmire and the endgame but slogging through the in between bits is rough.

I save the Geth Incursions sidequest until late in the game, when I can clean-sweep each area with my squad on foot in give-or-take a minute.

Mass Effect 1 as a game from Eden Prime to Citadel to Middle Game Planets 1-4 to Ilos is fantastic, narratively. Just, again, as Spideyfan put it: "slogging through the in between bits is rough."

At least Bring Down the Sky was fun, despite driving around the asteroid.

I just finished too. And another Council bites the dust. I find it so interesting that, at that point, if you have Liara in your squad she advocates sacrificing them for the greater good. It's a particularly Renegade twist of the pure Paragon squadmate.

Is there any point to start Mass Effect franchise from the 2nd game?

I'd say you should play Mass Effect through. If you can't, maybe wait for the interactive comic to come out so you can get some choices to carry through.

Otherwise you can. It just defaults to choices that require no real follow-up into ME2, which makes it look flat from the perspective of anyone who has imported.

It's still a bloody ****ing brilliant game.

Thankfully ME2 replaced the in-between parts with awesomeness wrapped in more awesome.

And the Batarians made Bring Down the Sky fun, I wish we could have made a short sojourn to Terra Firma before hitting the asteroid but it was by far the best sidequest of the bunch.

Also to put it out there, ME1 is still a very damn good game. For anyone who can I would definitely recommend picking it up before getting ME2, you're just not "experiencing" the trilogy properly without it.

That being said I'd also like to reiterate my desire for a ME1 remake down the line to bring the game in closer with the series as a whole, generally I'm not a double-dipper but in this case I'd pony up the cash for it.

Playing ME1 is a must for ME2. I played ME2 without playing ME1 and still enjoyed it but it wasn't until I finished ME1 and played the second over again that it felt like I was playing a different game. I loved seeing some characters from the first reappear, especially Wrex. It just didn't feel complete without the first already played.

I'll admit I was annoyed with ME1 at times with the Mako but I still loved roaming around different planets never knowing what I'd find, etc. Not to mention the story was great and felt epic as you were nearing the end. I hope for the third we get that sense of freedom again when it comes to going to other planets instead of launching countless probes.

But ME1..still one of my favorite games.

Agreed 100%.

one thing I like about ME2 vs ME1 is that in ME2 you can use Face Codes to quickly generate you Shepard's face.

If there's a face code that I really like in ME2, how would I be able to "recreate" that face in ME1, since you can't use face codes in ME1.

would I have to copy down each slider position?

thanks.

does anyone know when the Interactive Comic will be coming to the 360?

and, will it cost anything to download?

and, since the Interactive Comic is now coming to the 360, is there any more reason for someone who already has the 360 version to go out and buy the PS3 version?

I actually own both ME1 and ME2 on the 360. I liked the gameplays mechanics of ME2 better than ME1. However, for story purposes, I wanted to start my Shepard in ME1 first. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into the mechanics of ME1, so both games kind of sat on my shelf collecting dust.

When I heard the PS3 version was coming out and that it had the Interactive Comic, I was like: "Cool! I can "build" my Shepard's story without actually having to play ME1."

Plus, the PS3 version has all the DLC bundled into one disc. And, it supposedly has better graphics. So, I was planning on trading in my copies of ME1 and ME2 to get the PS3 version.

I downloaded the PS3 demo, and for the life of me, I don't really see much difference graphics wise between the 2. I've seen other comparisons online, and the 360 version actually looks slightly better texture wise.

Now, I hear that the Interactive Comic is coming to the 360, too.

to me, that kind of takes away the purpose of getting the PS3 version............

I haven't seen confirmation either way on the price of the comic but I believe it will be free.

ME2 picked up a viewer's choice award from Screw Attack for GOTY as well Best RPG and Best Story from Gametrailers (with the platform and GOTY awards not yet up).

They talk a little bit in the RPG award video about how WRPG's have taken preeminence in recent years (on the consoles at least) over the JPRG genre. Having just watched the first hour of FFXIII its not hard to see why. Yeesh.

If you can't stand playing ME1, then grab the comic whenever it comes out and try it that way, though understand it's going to be much less in-depth, apparently, than playing through ME1.

From the demo, I couldn't tell much difference in the graphics on the PS3 version either. Someone said in the cutscenes, but it still doesn't make much difference. I thought the controls felt a little more crisp, but that isn't much.

Overlord, Kasumi and Lair of the Shadow Broker are 200 pts a piece today on the XBL Marketplace.

I bought the Shadow Broker DLC last week... FML.

I bought it at release, but holy ****. I saw those and said, again, holy ****.
