Mass Effect 2

They both may own it but I doubt EA can just port the first one on the PS3 without an agreement between all owners. Good way to get sued if they do.
Very true, the whole thing is complex because Microsoft and EA never went into full detail on what they can and cannot do in regards to the first Mass Effect game. Does Microsoft still own the console rights to the first Mass Effect game? Or just the Xbox 360 rights? Can EA port the first game to the PS3? So many questions.

All I know is for Next Gen Microsoft needs to rethink their gaming strategy. They can not just survive on Halo & Fable & Gears.
Yeah, Microsoft's first party efforts are embarrassing. It's pathetic how they think they can just get by on timed exclusivity on DLC while Sony has really beefed up their first party efforts.

I would think most would buy Call Of Duty on the 360 now due to their Exclusive DLC deal for the next few years
Call of Duty has always sold more on the 360 than PS3. However, the Infinity Ward games sold very well on the PS3.

True, but it would still be nice to be able to play the first game.

Yea deff, but its not like you are missing a major feature of Mass Effect 2. I mean certain characters will be lost on you, for instance the first time you run into Garrus again etc etc, but other than that you could just read up on the events of Mass Effect.

Altho Mass Effect is a great game.

The first game's kind of a necessity if you really want to mold the ME trilogy into your Shep's story. ME 2's a great game regardless, though.

Haha, not really. Halo and Gears basically out sell every PS3 exclusive combined. But i know what ya mean. Looking at my games collection, every PS3 title i own is an exclusive, but i only have 2 or 3 MS exclusives, which, by the way, id trade for any of the PS3 exclusives.

Well, personally, I tend to buy any multi-platform games for the 360. I suspect that's pretty common.

Nice, looking forward to ME2. Too bad I won't get the complete story without ME1.

That was before the Exclusivity Deal announced at E3. Now it is wait & see
I really don't see future Call of Duty games being as successful on the PS3 as Modern Warfare 2 was. The non-Infinity Ward games didn't sell as well on the PS3 and now that Infinity Ward is essentially gone, I really don't see hardcore PS3 gamers hopping on board with the series like they did with Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty 4 to a certain extent.

I bet a lot that sooner or later they will release the original on the PS3 as well. Though I do have the first two on 360....I may get em on PS3 we will see.

The Non IW games didnt sell as well on either platform. Its not just the PS3.

I hope Bioware has an elegant solution for bringing PS3 players up to speed. It would be a shame if they just threw them into ME2 with no real setup or explanation.

Kinda how Microsoft published the exclusive Ninja Gaiden 2 and Tecmo went around and ported it to the PS3 as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2? I really dont think MS can prevent EA from bringing ME1 over if they wanted to. MS published the game. They dont own the ME IP nor did they develop it.

Im kinda over CoD. Ill wait for what the old guys from IW do at their new studio. This exclusivity deal came kinda late in the game especially after all the bad press that Activision had when they dismantled that studio

Maybe one of the bonus features will be a recap of the "canon" events from ME. Like the stuff that would've happened no matter what you chose, with the general plot of the Reapers and such.

You know, maybe they could do it that, if there's a recap, you get several options to choose how the story goes. So you can decide what the world is like that you start in in ME2.

Shenmue II came with a "movie" of the first game to bring people up to speed. Basically all of the cutscenes with little bits of gameplay to fill in the gaps. I don't think it would be a great idea, but it's an option.

Xbox is losing their exclusives quickly. Outside of the typical Halo, Fable, Gears series, I'm wondering what they are going to come up with.

Haha, like a Choose Your Own Adventure recap? That would be interesting.

MS has horrible 1st party support due to their lack of 1st party studios and franchises. They really dont have many so exclusives on their end is weak. They focused on using their money to drop millions getting 3rd party exclusives early on, while Sony instead chose to pour their money into their own studios and beef up their own IPs. As a result MS had the early advantage but things are turning expecially since many of those 3rd party deals have run out and they are making their way to the PS3, which is more attractive now that its cheaper and has a larger install base
