Mass Shooting Foiled!

It's good they prevented this from happening but they also did not specify how they knew, outside of a "tip from a member of the public." I always wonder how police gain such information from what should otherwise be very private and closed off group. Do they tell other people their plans? What kind of details were leaked?

I would wager a guess that the RCMP don't want to give out too much information in case they have undercover cops in the midst.

And the RCMP does not have rampant corruption or brutality concerns like some police departments in the States. I have no reason to be overly suspicious of them and their methods of gaining information.

Police usually have informants, so, that's my best guess.
Besides, criminals are morons, they usually like to take credit and talk about crap like this online.

Its a good question though. The RCMP have a pretty decent record for stopping Terrorist acts before they happen.

It isn't just that they might have used some kind of shady or even illegal tactics to gain the information but how/why people would be dumb enough to let others know their intentions to commit mass murder.

I find it hard to accept that criminals are so dumb as to brag about crimes they are going to commit before actually doing so. Then again I'm not one of those people so maybe they can't see how stupid it is.

Speculating here. It could have been an informer's tip-off or a sting operation. Or detecting some unusual chatter amongst the local criminal elements, like noises of illegal firearms changing hands between persons of interest or previously unidentified people. Not uncommon for the police to let some low to mid level criminal activity run relatively unchecked for a period in order to eventually reel in the big fish. My country did this for illegal prostitution and pirated VCDs in the 2000s. For a time they were pretty visible on our streets.

The RCMP aren't always the bastion of perfection they try to show themselves as but they do do a good job and it shows when something like this is prevented.

We can't go a week, let alone a few days, without seeing big examples of hate in this world.

What a horrible week it has been overall :csad:
