Mattress company airs offensive 9/11 commercial

There is a vaguely Springtime For Hitler vibe going on with this story.

Closing the store and essentially firing the entire workforce is an over reaction. It was a tasteless commercial. Nothing more. Write up or fire those involved.

Getting a wee bit tired of social media going on vengeance crusades without any consideration for collateral damage or the bigger picture.

They were screwed right from the get go while I agree this was tasteless and moronic the people had the bit between there teeth and the abuse would have been insane

Saw this yesterday morning and laughed my ass off. This looks like it'd be something from a bad Always Sunny episode. That someone approved this is truly mind-blowing.

*at 9/11 memorial*

"Wolf Cola... the right cola for closure."

I'm ok with it. Not that it should be broadcast on TV or anything, more like a roast joke...

at what point is it funny to laugh about it? Kind of like that South Park episode where there is a time frame to laugh at tragedies.

it's a 'dark comedy' joke, but has no place in advertising.

I think this is the first time I have seen a real ad that makes a joke of 9/11. There is that Subway ad from the Onion.

I heard about this on Friday when Charlamagne gave it Donkey of the Day. I'm not offended whatsoever by the video but a little foresight would say not to even film an ad like that. The media will rip you apart.

So this advert, which was meant to boost sales for the company, actually had the opposite effect and put them out of business?

They need to come and do some marketing for some summer blockbusters to boost the box office earnings. :o

They should have used "test audience reactions" first, before airing it to public. :o

Maybe they did test it on Afghanistani/ Iraqi audiences. :o

It was incredibly boneheaded and stupid of them to do. Firing the morons who were behind it should have sufficed but I guess the owner didn't want to deal with the headache.

And for an unfortunately identically named mattress business in Canada they have been getting lots of hate for these bozos commercial even though they are totally unrelated.

Social media outragers can't take the time to even identify who the offender is, so yeah this is more about an excuse to be offended than the actual offense.

I see the company in Canada changing their name otherwise this would put them out of business as well. They ought to release a statement saying that they aren't connected to this in any way.
