Matt's Thread of Racing...

I doubt the spoiler will do anything if/when it's implemented. The drafting comes from the lower rear end of the cars matching up with the flatter front end, enabling a pushing effect when two cars line up. I figure we'll see that used again at Daytona, but it does make for some interesting gamesmanship as drivers will have to figure out who they work best with.

I like Tony Stewart to win at Daytona this year. He's due.

Good choice. Kyle is always a threat to win at Daytona. It'll be interesting to see how the new crew chief handles him this year. I believe this is the year he breaks through and wins a championship.

My pre-season favorite to win the title was Denny Hamlin. Know I'm not so sure with his torn ACL.

I think it will take Busch some time to gel with his crew chief. I want this so badly to be Mark Martin's year to win the 500, but I can't deny that it's most likely Stewart's year.

I think Kyle will do pretty good with his new crew chief. It seems like it doesn't matter who you stick him with, he's going to drive the hell out of the car.

Mark Martin will be the sentimental favorite. If Carl Edwards doesn't win the 500, Martin is second on my list to hoist the trophy.

I'm gonna have my predictions on who will make the top 12 possibly tonight.

Kyle will have a good year, but it's gonna take a few races to get going, me thinks.

Mark Martin SHOULD have a better year this year, with a full season under his belt with this team. I'm really hoping he can pull off a championship this year, but it's difficult to tell so early.

I'm really interested in the ARCA race on Saturday. Danica Patrick makes her stock car debut.

I'm thinking she'll do okay in the race, but I wouldn't be surprised if she crashed. I don't think we'll see her in the nationwide race, but it's possible.

I think she'll do fine. But then comes the question if the guys are willing to work with her.

Looks like Edwards will be on the pole for the Shootout.

The Hendrick cars look to be dominating the practice sessions. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Hendrick based car on the pole for the 500.

Danica qualifies 12th for the ARCA race. Not too bad.

Danica did surprising well during the Arca race. Spun out, came back and finished seventh. Very good performance.

Mark Martin grabs the pole for the 500. **** yeah! That's step one towards capturing the 500.

The Shootout was surprisingly calm with the wrecks and exciting with the racing. Lots of weaving in and out of traffic and only one big wreck at the end when Gordon moved Biffle out of the way. I'd say we're in for an exciting 500. I'm still sticking with my man, Martin.

Danica did extremely well. I would like to see her run the Nationwide race on Saturday. See her run with the big boys.

The Hendrick cars are running very fast for speedweeks. I'm gonna change my 500 pick from Kyle Busch to Tony Stewart.

The racing was MUCH better. I don't think they'll race like that in the 500 untill the last 30 laps, but they seem to have the cars running better at Daytona.

Tosee her not destroy the car after getting spun out and then recover for a seventh place finish was very impressive. I think she could have a very bright future in the sport.

I too think this could be Tony's year, but I don't want to count out Martin either.

The only downside to the race last night was at the end, Gordon moved Biffle out of the way. I didn't see a flat tire on Biffle, and it looks like Jeff was trying too hard to push him to the front. I still want Nascar to stay out of the way though. Let the drivers come down on Gordon if they need to, or anyone else that gets too aggressive out there. I hope Nascar continues to let the drivers police themselves.

I see she is going to race in the Nationwide race on Saturday. She'll be guaranteed a spot with Keselowski's points from last season.

I was also really impressed with McMurray and Kahne. Could be a surprise upset on Sunday.

Yeah, Gordon made a bonehead move there. I think bump drafting into the corner was his mistake. Giving someone a push down the backstretch is fine. It's entering the corner they have to watch out for.

I can't wait for the 500. I just hope we don't this one doesn't get rain shortend. :csad:

Carl Edwards to guest host Monday Night Raw tonight.

I think the weather is supposed to be all clear for the 500.

I'm not amped about Edwards on Raw. 99% of all Nascar drivers throughout history have never had the personality big enough for a stage like wrestling, and Edwards will be no different here; there to have fun, but hohum when given mic time. I'm more interested in the Bret Hart angle and CM Punk on Raw, but there's a thread for that.

I'm pumped since Edwards is my favorite driver. I haven't been a full-time wrestling watcher since about 2004. The draft really upset me. I didn't care for them making Raw and Smackdown two seperate shows. I've tried to get back into it, but it just didn't work. I'm gonna try again. I bought Smackdown vs Raw 2010 for my PS3. Trying to get used to everything again.

I used to buy the SVR games, but just phased out of it after a while, like I have slowly with wrestling, but I've been interested in the Bret Hart angle and how Wrestlemania could turn out.

Anyway, I can't wait for Daytona weekend to get here. The trucks are always awesome, the new Nationwide cars debut with Danica, and then the 500 Sunday.

What's your favorite Daytona 500? Mine was the 2005 race. You had Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin and a few other surprises going for the win. The announcers made that one hell of a race to watch over and over again. When Earnhardt took the lead, the crowd went nuts. Sent chills right down my spine. The only thing that made this horrible was the last caution for debris off Kasey Kahne's car. Still a good race from start to finish.
