Matt's Thread of Racing...

How do you kill a god?
You make him bleed.

[BLACKOUT]Finally a race when Vettel got to RACE a little![/BLACKOUT]

Can't believe Webber finished 3rd guy drove like a madman.

Good to see someone win other than Vettle it was getting a little boring.

Funny when Button went into Redbulls pit.

Greatest finish to a race I've ever seen! Props to Jr. for being a team player and pushing JJ to that victory. Jr had a car capable of winning that race himself but he took one for the team. Not sure how i feel about two car drafting but if it keeps providing finishes like that I'll learn to live with it.

IndyCar’s contract expires at the end of 2012, and while there’s been a lot of chatter about moving races to NBC, ABC officials have said they still have a strong desire to retain the open-wheel racing series.

The IndyCar Series hired IMG Media Sports Programming to negotiate with ABC and the two sides held their first meeting during the last week in April. Those talks, sources said, are heating up this month. ABC has a 90-day exclusive negotiating period before series officials can talk to other networks.

According to sources, ABC pays between $4 million and $6 million annually to air IndyCar races, and series officials are looking for at least that much for the next contract. The Indianapolis 500 is the key driver to the deal. Versus cable channel pays a similar amount to air the series’ remaining races.

One of the things on the table, according to sources familiar with the talks, is adding more races to ABC’s package to bring in more revenue for the series. That would be especially good for the series considering network channels almost always earn higher viewership than do cable channels, especially those as relatively unknown as Versus. ABC has aired the Indianapolis 500 for 46 consecutive years.

I love Memorial Day weekend. Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600. Doesn't get much better than that.

Oh man... Monaco was -AMAZING- and the Indy 500 get's more and more pretentious each year. Seriously? A Montage with the USA's more horrible moments while sprinkling it with Indy winners? Cut the **** I want to see racing in a circle, it's the one time a year I do! :cmad:

One week left until the greates sports event this year starts! The Return of the king Kimi Räikkönen! (This time for Lotus)

I hope this season doesnt become so boring as last years when it was basically just waiting for Vettel to finish... I just invested in a year's subscription of a channel-package to see the races live, so I kinda want my moneys worth :BA

Kimi Raikkonen in Top Gear

You just cant help but love him :awesome:

Yesterdays qualifying race gave Hamilton (McLaren) the pole position, followed by Button (Red Bull) on 2nd and the french upstart Grosjean (Lotus) on third. Vettel, enjoyable enough finished 6th! (haha lol fail!). Sadly our hero Raikkonen (Lotus) had troubles with his car so he got the 18th position :csad: But oh well, I guess its a good thing to give the others a handicap so the race gets exciting :cwink:. Team Lotus is going have a very good year I think!

A fun trivia thing is that from 2007 and onwards, the one who gets the pole position in the first race, have won the entire championship in the end.

Will Hamilton hold the 1st from Vettel?
How many steps will The Iceman climb?

anyone following the Bahrain F1 FUBAR?

one team has fired a staff member for refusing to go on safety ground... and another team is refusing to take part in the sessions that means the crews travel after dark (after two of their crew went home following a petrol bomb incident)

Complete debacle.... and that's before Bernie opened his gob.

On the Indycar front.... how did Marco get airborne at Long Beach? I thought the new car style was designed to stop cars taking off over other cars:huh:

Very much so... not sure there's a real leader atm. Season is anyone's for the taking.

and it's amazing that i don't think there's been a 'boring' race yet this season. Always been something to fight/cheer about in each race.

insane... looks to be a fuel rig issue. so far it's confirmed that 4 Caterham crew were injured and a small handful of Williams staff were injured. One of which is reported to have been dragged out of the garage with both legs aflame.

It's also been revealed that Sir Frank Williams, the now 70 year old wheelchair bound owner of the team was in the the garage at the time of the blaze and is said to have been bundled out of there by the crew and is okay

I really have no idea who is goig to win the championship this season.

Seems like anyone can win a Grand prix race!

Its funny that the BBC played beastie boys sabotage at the end of their formula one coverage as well.
