Maxx question

Hi.
its just my luck that every time I start a thread wsith a question someone tells me that there are 5 threads already, but I guess I'm a slow learner.

I watched some of "The Maxx" on youtube the other night.
What is going on there? I understand the spirit animal, the "outback" and most of the symbolism, but wow, is it just me or was this an acid trip on paper?
Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the art, the story is so different that its cool. I just want to make sure that I'm not ony one who felt that it was a little "Employees only"

I read the first few. Great stuff, but a little dense so I haven't gone through the rest yet.

The series is almost panel for panel the first couple of issues
