I really wish They would have just continued the old book by dropping Cable.Fabian was great and so were the rotating artists.I haven't read them but I really want to track down those old Joe Kelly issues.

Joe Kelly's Deadpool is the only version I really enjoyed. Priest's was good, but it lacked the charm and pizzazz of Kelly's humor. If Marvel could somehow get Joe Kelly or maybe Gail Simone back for more Deadpool, I'd be all over it. Anyone else, pass.

Kelly's was the funniest and the craziest.

I actually thought Kelly's version succeeded less for the humor than the depth underlying it. Other versions have arguably been funnier, it's just that they don't make me actually give a **** the way he did.

Ouch New Warriors...hurtin'...

C'mon guys!

I like the book, but I can see why it is turning people off. The "twist" alienated a few people, and the pace is a bit slow. I am amazed it made it last issue #12, although they may just want to give Grevioux another arc to get Counter-Force into a comic while A:TI is doing a SI crossover.

You'll notice all the books that Marvel wants to leave for dead aren't having SI crossovers. :p

That's a good point, too. Gail Simone's Deadpool was probably as funny or funnier, but her run was essentially just a primer for the switch to Agent X, who was kind of like Deadpool but just different enough to make me not give a ****.

I loved that Kelly had the sack to force Deadpool to make the Free Will vs. Endless Bliss decision for the entire universe and then leave it open as to whether he actually did the right thing. That's the kind of **** that other comics just don't do.

Kelly was the only person who was ever able to write Deadpool.

I hate that there's only one trade of Kelly's Deadpool. I have most of the back issues, but they're all in Miami. :(

Your from Miami......So where exactly in Miami do you have these issues?

I left them out by some alligators in the Everglades. You should go look for 'em. Don't worry, I'm sure the gators won't mind. Honest. :)

Yeah, I dropped it a few issues ago. Just didn't connect with any of the characters.

I remember a few months ago in a Wizard Interview, Grant Morrison saying Final Crisis was going to be the event of the summer, and Marvel's Secret Invasion was nothing but re-hash....

Apparently he was mistaken. :yay:

While I'm reading Final Crisis and not Secret Invasion,Final Crisis has yet to wow me.

It is a bit premature to judge either event, but Secret Invasion did have much more acclaim and buzz after its first issue came out than Final Crisis does. People anticipated SI, #1 came out, and people talked about it favorably. People anticipated FC, #1 came out, and now people are kind of apprehensive about the rest of the series.

I think what's hurting Final Crisis isn't so much the book itself, but everything that was said about the book up until it's release. I think people are confused and frustrated that it was said to be picking up where Countdown left off and it hasn't. And I think people are fed up with the scheduling of the book and how we were constantly reassured that Morrison and Jones were well into it, and then the first issue comes out, and uh oh, that wasn't true at all.

Yeah, expectations certainly have hurt Final Crisis. Countdown was a disaster and, from what I've seen, the consensus seems to be that totally ignoring it is the way to best enjoy FC. But even without Countdown, a lot of people looked at Final Crisis as the thing that could "fix" the DC universe, which is in a pretty sad state overall right now. So, going in with those kinds of expectations, FC #1 would've had to be a mind-blowingly awesome first issue and, sadly, it was just a decent first issue.

Yeah, I'm not sure looking to Final Crisis as the thing that can fix the DCU was a smart move to begin with. I know initially Morrison was pretty adament about fending off those expectations and saying that it's just a good story about the DCU. Things may have been chaged and tweaked since then, though. I didn't hate the first issue. Taken as stories, I'm sure that when all is said and done, FC will be better written than SI. As events, though? It's too early to call.

I'm honestly looking forward to tie-ins from each event more than the events themselves. Final Crisis: Revelations, Final Crisis: Rogues' Revenge, and Secret Invasion: Thor, specifically.

Rogue's Revenge looks great. It seems like DC knows exactly where to put Kolins, instead of Marvel continually botching their deal with him. Good for Kolins with the smart move back to DC.

As for SI, I'm really looking forward to the Thor tie-in, as well as the Runaways/Young Avengers mini.

I'm still wrestling with the idea of buying that. I want to, but it doesn't really seem like it'll be too substantive. The Young Avengers are, after all, stuck in place for all intents and purposes. They have to be relatively unchanged for whenever the great and mighty Heinberg deigns to write the next volume of their comic. :whatever:

I know. But that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy a well written story. I mean, I know that Hercules isn't going to die or whatever, but I still read and thoroughly enjoy his book.

Yeah, I guess. I'll probably pick it up. I've missed the Young Avengers and the Runaways. It'll be nice to get a consistent dose of them for a few months.
