Let the battle of the blue boy scouts BEGIN!

Captain America. Cavill's Superman is bland, boring and forgettable IMO.

Gonna have to go with Cap, because he's been in more good movies. Cavill is a great Superman, though, he just hasn't been given the best material so far.

It's only fair to compare Cavill to Evans' first 2 appearances (TFA & A1), but still Cap.

Supes.

While I liked Cap a lot in TFA, ever since Avengers they're showing more and more of his simplistic holier-than-thou "I'm right because I say so" attitude which can be a little annoying imo.

This is unfair, people have a vendetta against DCEU Supes....that said Cap.

Not because I dont like Supes. I loved DCEU's rather mature and imo misunderstood portrayal of Superman. But I just find Cap overcomes it by a slight margin for me.

SUPERMAN!!!!!!!! KAV-EL!!!! All the way! No Doubt! Hands Down!

Theres absolutely nothing to Cavill's Superman. It isn't even a fair question, Cap is the better character by miles.

Honestly, Evans portrayal in Cap 1 alone tops Cavill in both movies imo. And thats not Cavills fault, the writers have really short changed him in terms of having really compelling material. they never let him carry either movie.

It's not unfair. People have reasons for disliking DCEU's Superman.

That said, the original poster knew how this thread would pan out. It's a slam dunk for Cap.

Poll added. And I believe it's a fair matchup since they're pretty much the leaders of their respective teams, portrayed as ideals for humans to be, and they're supposed boy scouts. I'm debating whether I should add Cyclops, now. :hmm

I don't know anything about Cyclops as a character, movie wise. Because the movies never bothered to really put any focus on his characterization.

Yeah I guess Wolverine was more the leader in the films.

I'm going with Captain America for this one. Even though I don't think Chris Evans is a great actor, I like him and his acting is passable. I just wish his acting skills would be as great as Robert Downey Jr.

The other guy, eh. I don't like the portrayal of the new Superman and Henry Cavill's acting skill is very average.

Captain America.

I am confident that Cavill, who had all the potential in the world to be great and hasn't be given the opportunity through no fault of his own, will unfortunately be skipped over in the long run once DC gives Superman the treatment he deserves. The definitive Superman is still Reeves but I think once his story is done proper, whoever comes next in ohh fifteen years or whatever will be even better.

Evans has the luxury of being the first real Captain America, more or less. But he has delivered every time, and I am more than happy that he has turned on a few folks who did not care about the character before. Which really is a challenge, I imagine. Now, I'm sure some would say the same about Cavill, but it seems there are more who are disappointed than thrilled with that Superman.

Cap by this scene alone...

Exactly.

Its unfair to judge. Cavill was given 2 movies in which the character of Superman wasnt the one we grew up knowing and loving. He has the look and could totally pull off being Superman, but was given a crappy vision for him.

Evans was the first Cap and hes been in 6 movies and 3 solo movies which really helps dive into his character. But he is what I wish the DCEU Superman would be like

My vote goes for Captain America

Cap. By a landslide.

This isn't even a contest.

Cavill is a wooden actor void of charisma and screen presence.

The minimal dialogue he is given is intentional.

While he couldn't make an inspirational speech in BVS, Cap gives us this;

All the Cap Movies are critically in the 80s and 90s. Cavill has starred in two terrible films as Superman, and delivered underwhelming boring and bland performances.

Yeah, sorry, but it is totally fair. As was said earlier, even if we just go off The First Avenger and The Avengers, Evans still wins. Superman had a mixed debut, but every chance to step it up for the next appearance. 4 to 5 hours is plenty of time to deliver a character. One series delivered, the other did not.

Your first paragraph is not about fair or unfair, it's just about one of the arguments why MCU Cap has been better than DCEU Superman. It's not just about the actors, it's about everything that's put into the character.

The second part doesn't have to be a factor if you don't want it to be, as you could compare their first two outings.
