Started my marathon today going to try and do 2 movies a week. I know most of us plan to do a marathon at some point before IWs. I wouldn't know where else to start a thread.

Iron Man 1 seems to get better every time I watch it. Love the suit I don't think it got any better than that suit from the size, color, and weaponry. That suit had energy blast, missiles, flares, and more little gadgets.

Coulson mentioned how it wasn't his first rodeo, so maybe he was around during Captain Marvel.

I like Cheadle but I still get excited every time Howard is on screen. He was the best Rhodey and I still get a big grin when he says "Next time baby!" I remember when I was in the theater and everyone loved that part.

Obadiah was decent as a villain, wish they built more on the Ten Rings but this being the 1st movie they had to establish Stark. RDJ was great in owning every moment.

I actually started mine already. I finished Phases 1 and 2 over the past couple of weekends, gonna start Phase 3 (Civil War through Homecoming) this weekend, then watch Thor: Ragnarok again when it’s out on Blu-ray, then likely watch Black Panther in theaters again after that.

I'll start just over a week before.

I think I might wait until A4 to do mine. I've seen them all so much already lol.

Been planning this for a bit. I wanna grab all of the MCU on Steelbook before I do (of course BLACK PANTHER won’t be possible) but I’m thinking I’ll start the first week of April, 4 a week which results in the last 2 the week of IW’s release. (RAGNAROK and BP)

Just finished Incredible Hulk.

I have always enjoyed it, not perfect mainly the cgi and the fact the characters outside of Ross and Banner will never be seen.

I think Blonsky has had the most screen time as a villain in a MCU movie outside of Loki. He gets 2 nice lengthy fights scenes in his human form and 1 as Abomination. They cut to him as well even when it isn't about fighting. He is a underrated villain, probably one of the best from the early movies.

I never find Betty annoying like I have found Jane and sometime Pepper.

Muscle Hulk is decent I much prefer the Ragnarok Hulk though. I like the muscle Hulk more than AoU Hulk though in the looks department. This Hulk was just a fighter, didn't make you care much about him. Glad the writing for him has improved.

Finishing Iron Man 2

I did not like Rourke/Vanko he maybe my 2nd least favorite villain Malekith will always hold the #1 spot. I wish they went full Dynamo or full Whiplash instead of mixing the two they also could have continued the 10 Rings build up. Vanko didn't have any stand out moments Hammer was the better villain. Hammer really came off like a guy that wanted to be like Tony so bad. I wouldn't mind if he appeared briefly in another movie.

Widow I thought was okay in this, she has been way better and improved. The fact that Vanko is Russian should have played more into her story and involvement. They could have done something there they didn't even have a scene.

Pepper in the end when she has to get saved was silly. I would think Pepper is smart enough to get away from a machine blinking that is more likely to explode. She wouldn't just stand there with her head tilted to the side all dumb.

What I liked is RDJ of course he is Tony Stark.
Nick Fury in his brief time was so awesome and charismatic.
I love the Stark Expo stuff, that end battle sequence is really good. Anytime Stark has to fly around and think quickly is fun. The tag team battle in the park maybe my favorite tag team fight moment, it ranks up there. That is when Cheadle seemed settled in as Rhodes I wasn't into him early in the movie.

I did enjoy most of the movie, ranks in the bottom 5 for me.

I actually JUST finished Ironman 2 myself. Boy, what a mess of a movie this was. I know they said Ironman 1 had no script but Favreau was able to make it work impeccably there. Here, though. Hoo boy, this movie felt like they had no idea where they were going going and literally freestyling and improvising their way to the climax.

That said though, Favreau directed some really dynamic and visually beautifully looking sequences here. To this day, no one's directed Ironman action the way Favreau did. The 3rd act set piece made me wonder what he would have done with The Avengers had he stayed on to direct it.

But overall, yeah, this movie was a significant step down from the first but still entertaining enough to watch in parts.

I think the biggest missed opportunity in Iron Man 2 was not making the Hammer drones and the final Whiplash armor PRIMER RED - he was the Crimson Dynamo after all...

Has anyone ever tried to do the entire MCU world marathon? I mean, not just the movies, but the TV shows as well?

That would be a mission.

The movies have replay value for me but the shows not so much. I am one and done when I watch Netflix series. I don't see my self every rewatching AoS, I dropped Agent Carter 3eps in the 2nd season, I am not watching Inhumans, Runaway was enjoyable but didn't feel connected.

It did feel all over the place, Tony was sick with the arc reactor needing a new power source. Vanko didn't have a good motive, his dad died and said that should have been you. The govt wanted the Iron Man suits as weapons. Hammer was a rival that wasn't really on Tony's level.

If they focused on 1-2 of those it could have been good especially with the 3rd act being good.

I liked Favreau and wouldn't mind him coming back as a director with the increase of movies the MCU will have. The MCU was a baby at the time now with the structure and money of Disney instead of Paramount he can do some great things. I enjoyed Jungle Book from him so he is still involved with Disney.

Thor 1

Still good mainly due to the chemistry and acting of Hemsworth and Hiddelston. I love the way Thor talks in this you can tell he comes from royalty and is in his own world. He has no clue how humans interact and understand things. You can see the charm Hemsworth has that continue on now. Thor had some cool techniques whenever he fought too I miss mewmew. Loki is good even when in the background with how he reacts to things.
The Warrior 3 in their biggest role of the series, shame they didn't do much after this. They didn't need to be big in the other movies but a similar role in Thor 2 would have been nice. They at least had their action scenes in this.

I like the 1st arc of the movie a lot, being in Asgard and the Frost Giant scenes. I wish we had more of that we really had the FG as something to fight no development. We haven't seen one since this movie did the bifrost machine actually destroy the whole realm? Would expect some FGs to want revenge. Loki being a FG and turning blue would be cool to see again, he has to have some of their abilities. I want to see him use them in IWs.

I always forget Hawkeye was briefly introduced in this. It is always a nice surprise .

Jane and her friends still preferred if Jane was in the medical field like some comics and cartoons. I get the change to science to explain Thor stuff but it made them have a bigger role than necessary. Selvig was the only one I liked and he can possibly return in IWs or even Captain Marvel. He seemed to know that Shield meant business when they took their equipment.

Thor is a good origin movie though made me excited for the next one at the time of its release.

Starting my MCU marathon tmr!

I have always done the marathon in release order. I will be doing this one in chronological order (by where the greater portion of film takes place). So, I will start with Captain America: The First Avengers this week!

Wonder how long that would take. And all the shows (apart from Defenders) have already been greenlit for another season so it's about to get crazier.

I've only ever done it in release order too.Really hope all the films are available in 4K by the time of Avengers 4.

I do it in release order too. Can't wait to watch "Iron Man". It's been so long. And I've been holding off on watching clips from them so I can re-experience all of them.

It's the only way I have ever done it, also. But, since I have to do this marathon 2 more times, I figured I would try to spice it up :cwink:

Could be fun to try something different. I wouldn't mind watching all the series one after the other like IM 1-3, Cpa 1-3, Thor 1-3, GotG 1&2 and then the standalones.

I feel like you can't really watch the Thor films unless you watch both Avengers films in between.

Same with Iron Man 3. Tony's PTSD doesn't make sense unless you've seen Avengers and Avengers is the payoff for Iron Man 2.

Cap's films I think are pretty watchable without the Avengers though.

GOTG is pretty much a standalone series so far.

Started mine a few weeks ago. Just the essential ones for IW, but I really want to do the ultimate, AOS/Netflix-included marathon for A4.

I’m doing the exact same haha. So tempting to watch something but I’m like..”nah, save it for the marathon.” Haha
