MCU Punisher story! - Mr Kevin Feige

I think that Punisher should wait until after Daredevil. Make a good Daredevil film, then see how audiences react to a darker tone since Punisher is much edgier than Daredevil and would require an R rating to do the property justice.

Also, I'd do a Luke Cage film before Daredevil to see how a street level film in the MCU would perform before greenlighting Daredevil.

A Punisher TV series would be perfect for Netflix.

Im def excited about them looking at Dardevil, I do hope we see Strange, BP and Captain Marvel first tho.

I know its not gonna happen, but would love, love, LOVE Tom Jane to be cast as The Punisher again.

Either way though, it'll be interesting to see what approach Marvel take with the character, for me, he doesnt belong in PG-13 movies.

I am thinking that possible TV package they're working on would serve Punisher well. He is a MUCH better fit for TV than films. I think it'd offer the character a lot more freedom.

^ He and Daredevil both.

If he doesn't get a TV show they should introduce him in Cap 3.

I would be more than happy with a Punisher T.V show, especially one with plenty of darkness and violence in it as TP should be. My only worry would be that he doesnt really have many good villains and T.V shows can last a long time.

But with him, you can always invent new villains for him to kill very easily. Not all of them need to come from the comics. You can have your reoccurring ones that are, and create new jerks for him to kill!

True, any old Mobster could fill the role of a villain each week, and then we could get recurring ones like Jigsaw and Barracuda.

What do you think about them re-introducing Castle in Agents Of SHIELD and then spinning off into his own series?

I like that idea

I am not big on someone's suggestion to put him in Cap 3, but in Agents of SHIELD, I think that'd be an awesome guest star appearance and help build the MCU's TV portion. I think it is win win all around.

Yeah I dont think introducing him in Cap 3 would work, the characters dont seem to blend IMO and I dont see him getting a large enough role in that movie.

In AoS they could have an episode were the team have to hunt him down, when they do they realise he is doing some good, though in brutal ways, and the just leave him to carry on at the end of the episode. Then The Punisher TV series would start.

I like that idea, or maybe he is framed for murdering a SHIELD agent, or even they're tracking down the same murder (who happens to have powers). I think there are many avenues to pursue him being worked into the show. I think AoS could be used to introduce several characters from the lower end of the MCU (Punisher, DD, Moon Knight, Power Man/Iron Fist, etc). I'd also maybe like to see them work in Hawkeye or something for a guest spot (since he won't be anything pre-A2).

How does the character not blend? It's perfect for a Cap movie. He's not that different from Crossbones, other than being more morally ambiguous with his actions.

Framed for murdering a SHIELD agent would be a great to go, maybe someone Coulson trained so he takes it personal, seeing Coulson and The Punisher going at it would be great. Of course they would join together toward the end but that would be one great episode.

Agreed about the other characters as well, SHIELD would be the ideal place to introduce them, before they spin off into their own series or movies.

I think he would take too much of the story to center around. Cap 3 should be about advancing Steve's journey and leaving him in a place where the story may go on, but Evans gets his own bookend as well. Not about introducing the Punisher and potentially distracting the story (like Widow sort of did in IM2). It needs to be fluid for the narrative.

Agreed. I think that would be a great episode for AoS, and one that would get really high ratings. Someone needs to suggest this to Marvel

I don't know if I want Punisher in AOS for the simple reason that Whedon doesn't like him and wrote Frank horribly out of character in his Runaways run. If you don't like a character, don't use them because you're inevitably going to mess them up.

 Plus, we wouldnt really get to see The Punisher do his thing either, as it would be a PG-13 movie. I would say personally that the majority of Marvel properties could work in a PG-13 movie, but The Punisher isnt one of them. Being in an episode of AoS wouldnt be so bad as he could then spin off into his own violent world in his own show.

Definitely, as a season finale or something it would be perfect.

Exactly! Major difference between 1 episode of a show and a feature film. Punisher in PG-13 would be like watching a PG-13 Carnage film. It'd make him too tame, and part of the appeal is lost.

I don't think they would have to focus on Punisher any more than they have to focus on Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in Cap 2. I assume you're implying they would have to go into his backstory and all that in the movie, and they don't. They can just have him already acting as the Punisher and just use the movie to set him up for things in the future. It takes 5 seconds to explain who the Punisher is and why he does what he does.

This is just assuming he doesn't get a TV show before hand.

Punisher MAX on AMC with Kurt Russell as Frank and Clint Eastwood as Nick Fury

^SLJ would still be Fury as it would still be under Marvel studios.

It is unlikely that Punisher will debut in Agents of SHIELD.

1. The series' aesthetic is not compatible with the bloody, mature content of the Punisher tales. First, the program is a Disney program airing on ABC, a family oriented channel. It is unlikely that Disney would approve such content, as it would alienate the viewers. ABC is not NBC. Secondly, the series' lifeblood is humor: making it serious, like one of the Marvel Studios films, would undercut it considerably. You cannot shoehorn serious content into a show that does not take itself seriously. Third, the two aesthetics on violence would not synchronize: AoS is loathe to kill anybody; the team is not X-Force. The Punisher works when he is the cold vigilante type--one who would not fit in a program where nobody is killed deliberately and the heroes go out of their way not to kill anybody.
2. Narratively speaking, Coulson & Co. would not tolerate the Punisher. Even if the creative team somehow managed to shoehorn his murderous nature in, the episode would probably end with them submitting him to one of the detention facilities.

As for the networks that would adapt the program, I would hope it would not be AMC. Considering their mistreatment of showrunners - see the Walking Dead - I would hate to have an awesome series compromised by executives who disregard talent in favor of their own absurd notions. Thus, the only network left that would air a bloody, rated M punisher would be HBO. Their budgets would accomodate the character and their fearlessness in embracing mature content. Plus, their talent stable is pretty much unrivaled, when one considers all of the programs they have launched and resultant succcesses.

THIS EXACTLY! There's no way you could possibly do the Punisher justice on Agents of Shield, nonetheless a network cable channel like ABC. You would never get to see him actually punish bad guys the way he does. Also, it would be extremely hard to explain to the audience how it's justified to let the punisher go free and kill random bad guys, when they go through and abide by laws and restrictions. They would come off a bit hypocritical considering he'd be breaking the law himself.

I really don't think if it was a show put on AMC it would be a bad thing. I get everything that's been happening with The Walking Dead, but they have also had success i.e. Breaking Bad. Either there or possibly, HBO like you said, Starz, or even Showtime. They pulled off a pretty good vigilante killer series in Dexter, even though it kind of fizzled down the stretch.
