MCU: The Silver Surfer surfs home!

People cannot deny this point, the fact that Noah Hawley and Brian K. Vaughan are writing Doom and Silver Surfer respectively is pretty damn great.

I love the MCU, but these two projects are going to be epic!

I can't wait and actually hope they happen. It won't really effect the MCU's plans anyway.

Next up is directors.

Noah is writing and directing Dr. Doom. This is Noah's first time in the directors chair. So yeah, I'm not as ecstatic about it.

This is also Brian's first crack at film writing. So, yeah I'm curious what he'll come up with. But it's definitely not epic in my book.

That's why I specifically said writing.

Noah has directed episodes of Fargo and Legion. His Legion pilot looked spectacular, so I'd even be more excited, although I understand why some wouldn't.

The X-MEN from FOX couldn't realistically compete with MCU heroes it'd be a slaughter. Tye Sheridan trying to stand up to Chris Evans Captain America? It'd just look ridiculous. 99% Recast entire universe (Except Reynolds)

Except Dark Phoenix is testing well and Deadpool 2 is expected to be a hit. We're just starting to get deep cut X-Men characters on screen and while New Mutants needed some fixing in post-production since audiences weren't scared by it that still has a release date.

Like it or not, these films make money and the X-Men are in a very different position compared to Spider-Man. The post DOFP universe isn't a failure like TASM was.

Even if SS got made before the Fox deal is approved and Marvel gets the FF and X-Men rights, it won't affect how he will be integrated into MCU, since they have a full slate of scheduled releases and by the time SS shows up in the Marvel Universe, people will likely forget about this movie anyway.

Yay! I hope silver surfer gets some of that saga level craziness

It doesn't really mean anything until they are ready to put these in front of the cameras.

Just give it a rest Fox. Like they had these properties for such a long time and only doing this now especially with the merger on the horizon.

I can definitely deny it since i don't think hawley sensibilities are a good fit for Doom and the writers aren't the most important thing in the movie, directors are. Plus none of those films will likely see the light of day.

Of course! I doubt the deal would be done in time though. :(

The movie's not due until 2020, so I think there should be enough time to work something in if the deal can be completed before the end of this year.

They probably can't make him a major character, but they could include something brief - like they did with Spider-Man in Civil War.

Or they can just add him to the next phase of Marvel films going forward after Infinity War

Where did you hear that DP is doing well with test audiences? That's something I haven't read elsewhere.

The main X-films don't make much profit, according to Deadline's analysis. XFC, DOFP, and Apoc have made very modest profits for Fox. For example, DOFP returned a net profit of just $77.38 million. Deadpool and Logan yielded considerably higher returns due to their drastically lower budgets.

Well even something like that would be HUGE to me!!

http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/th...3/silver-surfer-avengers-infinity-war-rumour/

Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War is already a superhero team-up of epic proportions, so at this point, if Marvel decided to introduce a new character into the mix, we really wouldn't be surprised.

Case in point? Today's rumour on the interweb is that Marvel has decided to take full advantage of that Disney-Fox takeover last year and is set to introduce the Silver Surfer to the MCU in Infinity War.

The claims come courtesy of Metacritic, which lists actor Curt Clendenin as playing Silver Surfer on the Infinity War cast list.

I think it’s unlikely but maybe we will see a hint of a board or something. You never know. Even if he does appear I wouldn’t imagine it would be bigger than the Howard the duck bit in guardians of the galaxy

The potential is there for something special, but where dealing with hit a miss Fox. If you take the visuals of interstellar, and mix in some super hero action then you could have something interesting and unique.

But if where honest, Silver Surfer is one of the most boring and unrelatable heroes in comics. He's superman with no personality. I've spent the last 20 years trying to get through the animated 1998 tv show. Still can't get through the first few eps.

They would have to team him up with Pip the troll or the Star Jammers and turn it into a buddy movie with Surfer as the straight man.

Wow. I was looking through this thread an saw this...
this is so wrong it's not even funny.:whatever:

We really need him now.

Yeah, with Marvel going really going cosmic now (with Capitain Marvel and Phase IV), it's time to introduce who I consider to be Marvel's premiere cosmic character!

Ha, well I guess every now and then there’s a generation that maybe didn’t see the full extent of a characters potential. I still remember when people said they didn’t like Wanda maximoff because all they knew about her was the avengers disassembled stuff. None of the epic history and stories that she’s been a part of.

Plus once I thought thanos was too boring to work on screen and I’m regretting that now :csad:

Silver Surfer I can't see him having his own solo outing but him showing up in future films in cameos makes more sense

Assuming the deal goes through and Marvel gets all the rights, I'd like to see something like we saw in the comics - He's the Herald of Galactus when we first meet him and that's all we know, but he sacrifices himself to stand with the Earth and is banished to it.

... then, we get little glimpses of him until audiences are interested enough that they want to see his full story.

Silver Surfer, with his long history, can easily sustain a solo movie (and have a franchise) in the MCU. He's one of the greatest Kirby & Lee creations.

But, yes, he should be introduced like we saw in the comics, as Willie Lumpkin said.
