Ant-Man Michael Douglas is Hank Pym

Well my friend get used to it if you're going to be a supporter of this comic book, scratch that, Edgar Wright movie. Now we have a bunch of morons advocating and supporting Janet as Hank's daughter to be Lang's girlfriend. They call themselves fans?! I hope she's just ignored and left out. Minimize the casualties of this idiocy.

(This part isn't directed at you Endeavor) I love all the "OOOHHH they changed the story! Its new and exciting! Because who wants to see the stories you grew up on replayed?" excuses. Hmmm. Those original stories are the only reason that you have these movies to begin with so advocating their destruction is certifying that you're false fans. I'd like to know what part of IM3 was exciting with its changes??? Everyone keeps saying people loved it. I actually feel it's having an adverse affect on MS movies now. People are not as enthusiastic as they once were. I know my interest is near gone. So is my family's. And we LOVE Thor, Cap, and shellhead. We love all of Marvel as it is in the source material. Some changes, fine. Nothing like this however. Don't come at me with the $1 Billion box office BS as proof of "love" because we know the answer to that argument already: Lots of $$$ does NOT equal a good movie. IM3 is not loved, AT ALL, by any kind of majority of people. (No, 70% ranges don't signify loved or good otherwise everyone would love getting C's in academic work).

These alleged fans defend themselves by stating "we aren't crazy" and "we have a life" or "its just a comic book movie". Last I checked when you have near 10,000 posts on a comic book site......Yeah....YOU have no life. When you attack every opinion that another person posts due to the anger of things they love being crapped on just because you're "enlightened" and accept all the muck that is given to you, guess what? You too, my friends, are TROLLS. This is an open forum so whether you like the anger or you don't, go suck a lemon and ignore the rants. They weren't posted for your sanctimonious eyes. As such, don't try and be smart with your opinions and remarks because you don't care about our opinions anyway. Thus, it pleases me to let you know that WE, who are mad about father time playing Pym, don't give a DAMN about yours either!

Live and let live!

BTW- you guys cheering Douglas' casting are hypocrites. You claim you love him but want him to get into an argument scene with all the other Avengers??! He's too old for that kind of stress. It could kill him.:cwink::cwink::cwink:
Save your comments too. I won't be back to this board since Ant-man is DOA for me.

Enjoy!

But... you seem pleasant and nice! And your anger productively directed!

This "moron" really appreciated your comments ;) Have a nice day!

The thing that actually gets to me about Spideysays rant is this part:

Not the "moron" part, but the part that Jan should be left out of Ant-Man altogether because *gasp* she might be related to Hank or not involved with him at all.

Ignoring the fact that Jan is very much her own character in her own right, with a great personality and great adaptability to various interpretations.

Ignoring the fact that Jan is a founding Avenger in the comics.

Ignoring the fact that Jan has been a big part of the Marvelverse herself for the past 60 years.

Ignoring the fact that she's THE first female Avenger, historically.

Ignoring the fact that the Avenger team could use a little gender (racial) balance in the mix.

Why in the world would they leave her out just because Hank's origin is different in the movies? That's pretty dismissive of Jan as a character.

I miss when it was just 8 of us who posted in this section.

What about making Cassie the love interest for Scott?

Questioning the "true fan" status of an opposing side and resorting to defensive personal attacks - the last refuge of a scoundrel.

Indeed. Similar argument started popping up regarding Pym when Ultron was announced to be built without him (by a small handful of people on that side anyway). "Why bother putting him in now?" As if his only potential in the films is to create Ultron. Apparently you only need Pym to have Ultron and a young Pym to have Janet, individual character traits be damned.

Why do that when you can have him have a relationship with the Wasp? Also the casting call said they were looking to cast a 9 year old girl.

Why force a relationship with the Lang and the Wasp just to have her included in the movie?
She can be in the movie without being his love interest.

Or the Ultimates (they seem to go for the incest thing). Janet hasn't been romantically involved with Hank for her entire history, so it's not ESSENTIAL that she be in this movie. Heck, Hank is dating Tigra in the current comics and Janet has a thing for Cyclops's younger brother. She was also the leader of the Avengers at one point. Saying that she can't be used if she isn't banging Hank is just stupid and shows an astounding lack of imagination/creativity.

Enjoy!

The 2014 SHH Drama Queen Award goes to..... <drum roll>

Hell she's straight up been leader of the team more than once. She also led the West Coast team. Same for the team assembled for Avengers Forever and much of Busiek's run, including the Kang War. She's one of Marvel's strongest female characters easily.

The crazy rants were entertaining at first, but now you're just insulting people here. This clown needs a mod's vacation, pronto.

I know people don't give Hank enough credit as an interesting character, but they seem to outright dismiss Jan unless she's attached to Hank.

I honestly wouldn't care if she and Lang are together. They haven't done that to Black Widow or Maria Hill. Likely they won't do that with Scarlet Witch either.

I just want Jan in the MCU. That's important to me. I'll be very disappointed if they don't use her in the movie, or take her outright of the MCU.

ETA: SS has 84 posts. I'm impressed he busted out the trolling so quickly.

You nailed it Suzanne. As per usual. Cheers.

I am not sure if this has been touched upon - and sorry if it has - but has it been considered that with this casting and once this character is established, we will have three possible ages of Marvel in the movies.
We have already seen the Golden Age in CA-TFA and with a young Howard Stark and the cameo of the original Human Torch and the obvious possibility of a WWII era Cap/Black Panther adventure the foundation is there for quite a few Marvel movies set in this time period.
A prologue with a young Hank Pym opens the door for a Silver Age series of movies. Perhaps some of the phase 3 films - like Dr. Strange - will take place during this time. Maybe the older Howard Stark from IM2 will be back. But even better, maybe this is all setting the stage for a hero team based in this "Silver Age" - perhaps Marvel IS getting the Fantastic Four back after all these years!

Whedon ought to find a way to put Michael Douglas in Avengers 2 now. At least it would suggest that he is actually around in the present and doesn't just suddenly pop up from out of nowhere in Ant-Man (even if they show a 60s prologue in that movie). Putting him, even in a cameo, in Avengers 2 is seeding the MCU so that it all looks like it ties together more effectively.

The popular opinion is that he should be a consultant to the Avengers, although that probably won't happen until Avengers 3.

Anyways, this should be pretty interesting.

I wonder who they will cast as a the 1960's Pym? I've seen some good suggestions on here, but I'm curious who they will pick in the end.

Not unless this is Vladimir Nabokov's Ant-Man.

So it's okay for Pym's wife to be changed to have her become his daughter... But it's not okay for Lang's daughter to be changed to have her become his girlfriend. Hmmm

Saying that she can't be used if she isn't banging Hank is just stupid and shows an astounding lack of imagination/creativity.

Agreed.
But it's also stupid to say she can't be used unless she's Lang's love interest.

Sawyer from lost couldve pulled off a younger MD, but he might be a tad too old at this point:

Josh Holloway wouldnt be my first choice as a lead, but he could pull off a prologue. Thoughts?

You know what, he actually does have an air of resemblance to a younger Douglas.
