Michael Emerson should play Adolf Hitler in a big screen biopic

For years, I have dreamed that there would one day be a big screen, oscar worthy film detailing the life of Adolf Hitler. The guy was perhaps the closest thing to pure evil that the world has ever known, and that is screaming for a big screen movie. Imagine how chilling and powerful the movie would be if done right.

I've looked around forever trying to find the perfect actor to play Hitler, and I've been leaning toward Emerson for some time now, but I wasn't certain, until last night on Lost, I saw Emerson with longer hair in flashbacks, and when I imagined the mustache, I became 100% sold. The guy can play a character that is evil, yet still, he can make you like him. Emerson can win you over with words, he can give powerful speeches, and can commit truly evil acts and come across as justified. Michael Emerson is perfect to play Hitler.

As for Director, I don't know yet. The usual list would be Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, Frank Darabont, etc. But I'd like to find a young, under the radar Director who needs his big film.

I'm starting to prefer casting actors in roles that are NOT typically what we've seen out of them in the past. So, picking someone like Emerson to me isn't very exciting nor does it leave much for the audience to look forward to. I prefer to be surprised by an actor in a role that I never saw coming.

I respect and understand that, but I prefer to go with what I feel is the closest thing to a sure thing when it comes to movie roles, and I know Emerson could deliver.

I don't think we need a movie that puts Adolf as a sympathetic youth who faces trials and tribulations, overcoming them to become the leader of a nation, and ultimately killing millions.

He doesn't deserve the Hollywood treatment, regardless of the spin.

I disagree. I think that a biopic about Hitler, or even an adaption of Mein Kampf would be very interesting, especially considering your synopsis of it. The story of a "sympathetic youth who faces trials and tribulations, overcoming them to become the leader of a nation, and ultimately killing millions" could be very compelling.

But really, it's time. It's time for the definitive piece on Adolf Hitler. I like the idea of adapting Mein Kempf as well. Adolf was quite literally the evilest man to ever walk the planet. Jesus has had plenty of movies, it's time for a Hitler movie.

Downfall is all you need. A big Hollywood film would probably be in English, like Valkyrie, and try too much to humanize him.

I have to admit something.

My freshman year at Ohio University, I dressed up as Hitler for Halloween. I'm going to try and find a picture so I can put it up on here. Lets just say, I was noticed several times during the nights, I was recieved with both high fives and threats.
