Homecoming Michael Giacchino is the Composer for Spider-Man: Homecoming

Don't get me wrong, that theme sounds terrific! But even with an orchestra it's still too much like a jingle and would be flow disrupting in the movie. It's a gold nugget to the fans meant to amp up the mood before the film
Giacchino has a long history of incorporating classic themes from established properties into the main score.

In this case the classic theme doesn't fit and I don't think he would force it in there out of habbit. Objectively saying this movie orchestrated version even kinda ruins the theme since the drive of the original is the jazzy energy.

This rendition only functions as a gesture to fans. "Spidey is back home everyone! Get ready for MCU's own Spider-man!". In that aspect it's great, but it certainly can't work as score.

Im pretty tired of that theme at this point. It works fine over the marvel logo but I dont really want to hear it in the movie.

Yep.

Similar sound, length, and tempo to the new marvel intro. Definitely not the theme.

Horner's Spidey theme remains my favorite superhero theme of the last decade or so. It was everything Spidey is to me - youthful, energetic and hopeful, but with a touch of underlying sadness. And yes, I prefer it over Elfman's, which I enjoyed, but just felt like a re-hash of his Batman work to me. Zimmer's sounded like a nightly news intro.

Still, I'm very much looking forward to hearing what Giacchino gives us.

Agreed.

The actual main titles aren't that great but the motif itself is up there with Williams' Superman theme, IMO.

Has anyone seen the leaked asm2 trailer for comic con? It had the asm theme but it was amped up and sounded really intense . To bad it was only used for that trailer. It was so good

Yep I still remember that... I think that's a 4 mins video where the modified version of ASM theme sounded so BADASS... Wanted it to be in the movie, but we got a generic theme in return...!!!

Jesus. That was epic. Why didn't Horner come back? Why? If they chose not to, the fools.

I can answer that:

http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/spi...der-man-2-james-horner-on-why-he-didnt-return

One person who didn't return for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was composer James Horner, and he's shed some light on what was going on behind the scenes with the film. With regard to The Amazing Spider-Man, he said that director Marc Webb "was very inexperienced and he and I have a very good relationship, and the producers had their own opinion. And they didn't want his input. And then Sony had their own, they just wanted action".

Horner added that "to me, the whole thing about doing the movie was I liked the director and there as a chance to write something for the two lead characters and then she dies in the next movie". Yet it seems as though Horner isn't an Amazing Spider-Man 2 fan: "but the next movie ended up being so terrible, I didn't want to do it. It was just dreadful".

Basically, Sony gonna Sony.

Honestly, I had a feeling Webb was not the one to not bring Horner back.

And I am NOT surprised by Sony doing a Sony. Idiots. Utter idiots.

Cheers for the link.

You're welcome!

I'm still really nervous that Sony has final say on Spider-Man stuff in the MCU with the way they've handled the character in the past.

Gotta say I love that Zimmer "nightly news intro" Spidey theme. I think it fits the character and has a very heroic feel to it. Personally my favorite is the Elfman theme though. Really brings a sense of gravitas to the Spider-man movies. Makes me feel like I'm watching a real classic.

Agreed 100%.

Horner's theme really just doesn't do it for me. If anything, it feels rather generic as an action/mystery/intrigue movie to me.

Wonder if he will reference Jackman's work in Civil War at all. Or any of the Iron Man themes. I hope he does.

Yep. And the classic theme has appeared in all of the Spider-Man films, with the exception of TASM I believe.

This final track on Spider-Man 1 still encapsulates everything that Spider-Man is in my opinion:

Sad, tragic, romantic, hopefully, epic & heroic. I wonder what Giacchino has cooked up.

Love it! Excited to hear the score, but I won't do it until after seeing the film.

Some of the best score ever created IMO (of course I am heavily biased!):yay:

So based on the album tracks, What is the main theme of Homecoming? Is it the 60's Spider-Man theme? or is it the Suite?
