Aaron Greenberg, Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Group Product Manager, confirmed that there will be no X07 taking place this year. Instead he said Microsoft will have to find other ways to release their big surprises such as dashboard updates and so on later this year. You can hear him confirm this on the newest Squad XP Podcast. Also he confirms that Pixar Movies and Pirates Of The Caribbean will be finding their way on the Video Marketplace later this year.

I guess we'll be seeing a lot of the sensationalist, "OMFFFG Peter Moore quits Killzone 2 surpasses E32005 video PS3 pricedrop makes sales double Xbox360 LittleBigPlanet buys Microsoft OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!" craziness. Personally, though I am disappointed, I can understand why. This is going to be a huge fall for Microsoft one way or another, and they don't need X07 to generate interest and publicity. With Halo 3, GTA4, Mass Effect and others releasing, Microsoft showing new titles on the backdrop of the great games coming out would only cause both to overshadow each other. Plus, Peter Moore leaving in August leaves no room for Mattrick to give a decent speech on what's going to happen.

Also, whatever money they save on not having X07 makes that $1 Billion expense seem a little bit smaller.

UK set to get own event instead of X07, says Microsoft

To be held "before Christmas"

Following the news that this year's X event has been cancelled, a Microsoft spokesperson has told GamesIndustry.biz that the UK will get its own Xbox 360 event instead.

"X07 is not going ahead," the spokesperson confirmed.

"We're looking at doing something here in the UK. It will be from a UK point of view, not from a European point of view."

According to the spokesperson, the timing for the new UK event is "still to be confirmed". However, he did state that it is set to take place "before Christmas".

News of the X07 cancellation emerged yesterday in a Squad XP podcast. Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg stated, "There is not a real X07 this year, but I think that we will figure out some way to talk about 2008 some time at a different event or a different type of programme."

Microsoft has so far declined to comment on why the decision was taken to cancel X07.
There will be a show afterall, but for the UK. Hopefully that means Rare games! :woot:

If it's anything like E3, I'd almost rather they have nothing. :(

It's corporate fog. The reason they aren't doing X07 is to avoid being put on the spot and taken out to the wolves. You know what the main topic would be at press conferences... The recall rate, angry pissed off customers who are being charged $100.00 to fix their faulty machines (I work at Gamestop, and I've had more ppl trade in broken X360's because Microsoft is charging customers 50-100 dollars a pop to fix their machine), the negative buzz in general. I am so glad my X360 hasn't given me any problems what so ever. But i suppose it wouldn't be so bad if it did crap out, I still have my PS3.

How does Microsoft's new warranty work? I'm pretty sure they cover everything for free.

Microsoft has always covered the expenses of a broken system under warranty for free.
