The recent release of "Iron Man" has started me thinking- just how many Marvel heroes/heroines could qualify as bona fide millionaires?

The following list is by no means exhaustive but represents a ballpark "guesstimate":

Tony Stark/Iron Man ( DEFINITELY a billionaire!)
T'Challa/ Black Panther (millionaire at very least)
Janet Van Dyne/ Wasp ( millionairess)
Simon Williams/Wonder Man (millionaire)
Ben Grimm/Thing (millionaire)
Reed Richards/ Mr Fantastic( granted, Reed has never shown more than passing interest in material riches, but if he went into research for say, Tony Stark or Bill Gates, he could pretty much write his own ticket)
Matt Murdock/Daredevil( although his net worth has never been computed, as one of America's most famous trial lawyers, he must be worth a fair bundle- maybe not a millionaire per se but not exactly indigent either)

Anybody want to add to this list?

Terry

Dont forget Danny Rand/Iron Fist man.

Reed Richards/ Mr Fantastic( granted, Reed has never shown more than passing interest in material riches, but if he went into research for say, Tony Stark or Bill Gates, he could pretty much write his own ticket) If he didn't lose it every couple of years. Ben's probably got a higher net worth at this point.
Matt Murdock/Daredevil( although his net worth has never been computed, as one of America's most famous trial lawyers, he must be worth a fair bundle- maybe not a millionaire per se but not exactly indigent either) Definitely worth Millions

Charles Xavier

There are probably a number of villains but this thread did specify heroes. :) Wolverine has reasonable financial resources although how much isn't known and Sersi circulates in high society and probably has a good bit of money as well.

Only Millionair?

Under current government salary's..Nick Fury would probably be here. He's a 50 year employee and probably at least makes 150,000-200,000 a year base salary. With god knows what kind of TSP or slush accounts.

Night Thrasher

He's dead, but his money's out there somewhere.

It could be ALOT of people frankly.

-Mercs like Moon Knight, Paladin, Taskmaster easily have significant funds.

If you think about, Most heroes COULD be millionaires and would be in OUR world.

Don't forget Black Bolt and Namor, the guys are royalty as well.

Although I do love most of these characters, I do find it slightly annoying.
I suppose it's to make them even more amazing, but I rather like having a superhero's personal life at least infinitesimally similar to an average joe.

The surreal aspects of Peter Parker's life aside, what made him great was the fact that he had so much going on working against him, and balancing this crazy new lifestyle that was dumped onto him besides that.

It isn't like the rich and famous superheros aren't developed and don't have a slew of their own problems to deal with, but there is just something amiss there for me, especially when three quarters of my favourite heroes are multi-millionaires or richer.

Meh,...

I wish Peter would win the lotto.

Yeah but pete should be EASILY in this catagory.

I'm sure he comes across tons of spare cash in his crimefighting..and he SHOULD use this money to fund his campaign.

Give back SOME or MOST , but he could easily get great money for his own well being by fighting crime as he has done.

Sersi can literally make money out of thin air, so she should qualify.

The Black Knight owns a castle that's been in his family for generations. I don't know if he's super-rich, but I bet he's got a fair bit of money--enough to open a Black Knight museum in said castle and hire groundskeepers and such.

...... Imagine if Marvel had followed up on that story back in the 80's where the US Government tried to give Captain America his backpay?

Easy Millionaire there.

(Ignore the fact he's dead.)

Hmmmnnn,... this is around the time someone like Bernie shows up with steves two year old love child,....

Steve lives like a millionaire, even if he technically isn't one. Perks of being one of the most sought-after agents for SHIELD and a living symbol of America. They take care of literally everything he could ever want.

Of course, Steve's all business so he never wants much.

how come ben grimm is so rich?

Doom's gotta be loaded as well and the osbornes....

Well, after the fifth time Reed lost all the money, he stumbled upon an account he had set aside for Ben. Because Ben technically wasn't apart of the family, his money had never been touched throughout all the bankruptcies. When he finally gave it to him, he was worth Billions.

Then God would kill his uncle again.

It really is pretty ****ed up to keep any money he confiscates from criminals, though. A cop who accepts a $100 bribe is just as dirty as a cop who accepts a $1,000,000,000 bribe. It's the principle of the thing.

No it's not. It's not a bribe, it's simply finding money. Punisher has been funding his operations like that for years.

Yeah, and the Punisher is the moral standard we want to hold Spider-Man to now? A bribe is a different means to ill-gotten gains, but the money Spider-Man "finds" on criminals who are in the process of stealing it is still ill-gotten gains.

No no no, say he busts some drug dealers. He finds a bag of money and a bag of coke. So he burns the coke and keeps the cash. Not exactly the same as stopping a bank robber and keeping the cash they stole.

Still, Spider-Man's got a pretty strict moral code. I don't think I could see him keeping any money he finds in his crimefighting because, obviously, it's somehow connected to crime.

But a better man than the Punisher, at least. He may live in a box, but that box sits atop the moral high ground, my friend.
