Something is going on now. Karai does exist, Shredder is still white though. I think there may be a more involved plot.

I really really hope this is the case. I also hope splinter and the turtles' reincarnation is adapted too. I'd love for the film to open up in fuedal japan and show how Oroku Saki hunts down and murders hamato yoshi and his 4 sons...but maybe thats a little too dark. Lol

Yeah. That might be a bit dark.

Odds are, if they went that route, they'd have Teng Shen and their kids murdered off screen. Probably not even see the bodies. Just Yoshi's reaction.

You want to know something. My blood is German, Italian and Polish, but that doesn't stop me from having a Vietnamese cousin who was adopted into the family tree.

If Oroko has been intentionally brought back by Karai through reincarnation as opposed to flat-out resurrection as in the comics, then he wouldn't necessarily be in an Asian body. Either way, having Karai confirmed makes me feel worlds better about the portrayal of Shredder.

karai brings oroko back but needs a host body for his soul

Karai could be Shredder's adopted daughter like in the 2003 cartoon, that would explain the racial differences. Also, I MIGHT be willing to buy Shredder as a guy who grew up in Japan, became obsessed with the culture and Ninja, and decided to emulate it. That COULD be an interesting way to go. The resurrection story could work to.

In the TMNT Nickelodeon series, Karai is Master Splinter's Daughter.

Nope never. Though I believe she has been his biological GRANDdaughter.

The original Karai had no connection to The Shredder at all. She led the Foot Clan in Japan and came to New York to lead the US branch after Saki was killed.

The 4Kids series that gave Karai and Shredder a familial connection. Interestingly while Laird had significant creative input and pull on the series he didn't much care for the idea to make Karai Shredder's adopted daughter but it seems to be what has stuck. Even the Imagi movie while not mentioning it onscreen the bio for the figures explained she was his daughter.
