I just got done reading Allen Moore's run on Miracleman and it was very well thought out and interesting take on a corny 1950's comic strip. I don't really know what to say at the moment except if you haven't read it, you should check it out. I don't know about you guys but a Miracleman movie seems like a much better idea than Shazam (a character that resembled the 1950's version of Miracleman, who was essentially a British version of this character).

I like Miracle Man and actually bought the series back when it was new, I later lost those books in fire and bought it a second time on ebay, and sold those a couple years ago.

If Gaimen and Mcfarlane could act like pros and stop crying he stole my comic book... I would probably buy a new series of Miracle Man.

As far as being a better movie than Shazam... I don't think so. Captain Marvel has been popular for many years and has spun off major characters like Black Adam and Mary Marvel, Shazam is a household word even if people don't know is etymology. Although not an A-list character anymore, he is one of DC's top second stringers. Miracle Man was an OK independent character with no following that happened to have been written by two great comic writers early in their careers... so now it has a cult following. Miracle Man is a knock off of a knock off of a great character. Not even in the same class as Captain Marvel IMO.

But it's not Gaimen's fault... it's HIS character, and he wants to finish telling his story.

McFarlane thinks he owns it because he bought out Eclipse Comics a few years back, and has enough money to keep this thing in court for years.

And as corny as Marvel Man was, Alan Moore's redefining of the character back in the early 80's made him far superior to anything I've ever seen DC do with Captain Marvel.

Just my two cents...

:yay:

I like Moore's rendition of Miracle Man. Does anyone know whether or not any of Gaiman's "MiracleMan" is still being sold?

Exactly. Allen Moore followed a plan from beginning to end and introduced a scope/breadth that many ongoing mainstream characters don't have.

Miracleman would make more than just a dark/R-rated Superman movie and wouldn't be a tentpole project like Shazam will probably turn out to be.

Try downloading it from a torrent online. If you like it, then you should be able to find it on Amazon hopefully. If you really like what Gaiman did, then you probably won't be a big McFarlane Fan since he's kind of responsible for the Gaiman run never getting finished and leaving the character permanently in limbo from what I've heard.

ebay, comic shops, and comic conventions are the only places you'll find it. Nothing new has been done in almost 20 years

Well, I'd put it closer to 15 years, as #24 was released around 1993.

Issue #25 was set for release (it is done, apparantly), but Eclipse went under before it saw print.

I hope to see it one day...

I think I heard you can find scans online

McFarlane seems to make ****ing with Gaiman in court a big pastime. Lousy wanker.

Everyone needs their hobbies. And look on the bright side: Now Gaiman has first hand knowledge about lawsuits, and can write courtroom scenes much better because of it.

Good point.

It's just too bad those hobbies had to interrupt the comic before Neil Gaiman was able to finish up the final 10 issues of his run so we could see how this supposed Silver Age and Dark Age would play out. Gaiman should've just written the whole damn thing and put it in a bank vault somewhere and tried selling it. Issue 24 left me wondering a number of things such as:

-Miraclewoman's vs. Young Miracleman's role with Miracleman (seemed to be alot of personal issues Gaiman was gonna delve into) for the silver age storyline

-How Bates was going to be resurrected in the dark age storyline to finish everything off

But hey, I guess I can still look at the bright side of things, at least we have Moore's run.

Yeah, I think there's a torrent on Mega-Nova (or whatever it's called) along with bitenova maybe.
There should be a preview with this of issue 25. From the preview I saw, it seems that most of the story centers around Young Miracleman in the Antarctic doing some soul searching and confronting personal issues such as his disinterest in women. It seems that Bates appears in this issue too (more than likely in a dream or flashback).

The funny thing about Miracle Man is that it was one of those books that I bought from my pull list since issue #1... although when Gaimen started writing thebook, every issue seemed to take 4 to 8 months between coming out, and the stories were harder to follow (unless you had the previous issues next to you).

I should dig out the 24 issues that I have and reread them from start to finish.

Nobody insults Degrassi. That is the quintessential tween drama, ****ing television history right there.

And Stalin's Five Year Plans are Russian history. Don't mean they're good.

Hey man, the Cultural Revolution gets me hot... DON'T JUDGE ME!!!:cmad:

Degrassi Jr. High was far superior than Degrassi... in one episode in 1986, the gang goes off to see the Pogues.

I'd love to watch a Miracleman film. I hope they get the F/X team that did Day Watch. That way the battle where Kid Miracleman kills everybody in London will look sweet.

Good enough to imitate the Apocalypse.

I was excited when Todd came out with Man of Miracles, thinking it would be a new version of MM... the whole Jesus thing was lame.

If Marvel and Gaimen have a deal worked out like the wiki said... why don't they just change the name of the character Captain Miracle, Marvelous Man, Kimota or Atomic Man, they already have a character named Miracle Man that is a magician... so they could even use that name. Why not write the new character as the magician's protégé like the original Captain Marvel?
