Action-Adventure Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning/The Final Reckoning

A very high budget doesn't concern me, if its for the final one.

I hope they really put that budget into good use. Mission Impossible films look exquisite and I expect the next one, to be as expensive looking.

Finally gave this a rewatch and I enjoyed this a lot more the second time. The first time I saw it I was really chaffing against the whole Entity plot. It just seemed...a little too sci-fi for a Mission Impossible movie with this super A.I. macguffin that can do pretty much anything. But I guess this really isnt too far-fetched from where we are actually headed in real life so I went with it more this time.

I can't believe they're still filming. It seems like they've been shooting 7 and 8 for like five years.

Wait, he did it with two separate planes?! :wow:

An interesting quote from Shea Whigham:

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about his new movie Lake George, Whigham shared what he could about his return in Mission: Impossible 8, revealing that he recently wrapped filming on the highly-anticipated blockbuster. While he couldn't divulge plot details, he confirmed that he would share a scene with Tom Cruise, something that he personally asked for during the production of Dead Reckoning. He also shared that "people are going to be floored" by M:I:8, letting slip that Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie made "this one like an adventure film" instead of an action or spy film. "So it's going to be amazing," Whigham added.

I just realized we don’t even have an official title yet. Guess that trailer will be revealing a lot!

If it's not going to be the last movie, don't lie about it. Don't be dishonest.

I mean they literally called Dead Reckoning Part 1, meaning there is supposed to be a Part 2.
Did you miss this?

In a press release, Paramount Pictures confirmed that Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning will arrive on its streaming service Paramount Plus on January 25. Perhaps more interesting, however, Paramount has dropped "Part One" from its title.
Its sequel was previously called Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part 2, which was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike last year and is now set to release in theaters on May 23, 2025. In announcing the delay back in October, Paramount simply called the eighth film in the franchise "Mission: Impossible," without any numbers or subtitles.

We don't know if that means the next installment will take a Scream (2022) or Halloween (2019) approach, but between that and today's news, we can safely assume it'll no longer be called "Dead Reckoning Part 2."
