Samurai action game Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae will launch for PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store in North America on February 16 for $11.99, publisher Playism announced.




In Japan, Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 20. The game originally launched for PC via Steam.
Here’s a rundown of the game, via the PlayStation Blog:

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is the story of a demonic sword, and the young warrior who stole it for her own ends. Hot on her heels is our main character, and her best friend. Once friends, but now forced to fight each other, players will cut their way through arenas filled with monsters, robots, and thugs in need of a good slicing.
While Mitsurugi uses a combo system similar to character action games you might have played in the past, it employs a unique combo finishing system inspired by classic samurai movies and anime.
Once a player has inflicted damage upon their foes in a single combo, simply sheathing their sword will cause enemy wounds to open and spew blood, causing additional damage and often times, death.
In addition to this unique combo finishing system, players will be able to learn a wealth of awesome abilities during the course of their game, including devastating dive kicks, lightning fast sword combos, and incredible counters.

A western release for the Xbox One version has not yet been announced. Playism published the PlayStation 4 version in Japan, while developer Zenith Blue published the Xbox One version. That said, we likely won’t hear about an Xbox One western release from Playism.

PlayStation 4 owners will get to help a school girl samurai take a stolen, legendary weapon back from her best friend in Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae.

Playism’s next PlayStation game is Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae. Originally a Japanese doujin game released at Comic Market 84, the formerly Windows PC game is being ported to the PlayStation 4.

In Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae, players follow a young woman named Misa. She follows the way of the samurai, using her sword to cut through enemies like monsters, robots, and generally evil people. Her ultimate goal, however, is to catch up to her friend Suzuka, as Suzuka has stolen a demonic sword.

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is a hack-and-slash game that relies on sword combos. However, Misa is also able to kick and counter. Additionally, in the middle of a combo, players can make Misa sheath her sword to make all enemies wounds open and finish them off.

People will be able to find Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae on the PlayStation Store for $11.99, starting February 16, 2016. No additional content has been mentioned for the port. The Windows PC version is immediately available on Steam for $9.99.
