Moon

Loved it. And just like District 9, even though there's some predictable things in it, the way they pulled it off still made it a fantastic movie. And man.... did Sam Rockwell get beat up or what.

Which one? :awesome::hehe:

Just saw it on Blu for the first time, very very nice. This is my sixth time watching the film overall, I show it to many. It really is one of those films that you find more and more every time you watch it ala Blade Runner style. I can't wait for Duncan's next film

Just bought this. I was only going to rent it, but after all of the good response the film's had on here I just couldn't help myself.
And my local video store had a sale.:o

First of all, this movie is superb. Easily one of the best films of the year. I do have two questions:

1)I'm assuming Sam gets sick because the clones are giving a terminator gene preventing them from living passed three years?
2)When the Bell clones get into the "cryo chamber" at the ends of their contracts to be "sent home," our their bodies just incinerated on the spot? Sam notices a valve near the bottom the the chamber that has gray dust around it. I assumed it was ash.

Just watched this last nite and WOW! Sam Rockwell is fast becoming one of my favorite actors. His performance was outstanding on all accounts. Cant wait to see him in Iron Man 2

Saw this last night as well and...

Misleading trailer. I would have liked a...storyline with him losing his mind...not the old 'Clones' one. I couldn't recover after that.

But...I just love the DOP here, nice set design, the theme was nice (the trailer music theme that is in movie ), and Sam Rockwell deserves a OSCAR. He makes this film work. Carries it. He is really only actor and I love Spacey voice over in this and Gerty.

That being said, I probably like the movie more after I see it again and again. I may not ahve liked the twist, but I was also distracted a bit (saw it at sister's and baby was acting up )

Though I go with the clone idea....him going crazy is still one way people take it and you can take it as well. Deep movies like this have multiple ways of seeing it. Some friends of mine see it as Bell just going crazy and fighting himself. I see it both ways but mainly the clone way.

yeah, i totally dug this movie. i always like sam rockwell. he needs to be in bigger films more often. he was fantastic in this. totally solid film that i'd recommend.

Check out The Green Mile and Assassination of Robert Ford.

this movie will probably suffer the benjamin button syndrome on my netflix que... lol

it'll be at the bottom of my list til one day i get it by surprise.

Saw this film last night and it was great. Rockwell was outstanding and he damn well carried it. As did Jones' directing.

I thought it was a well executed and original film. Rockwell really should get nominated for something. I did find Sam's reaction to the twist to be a little more subdued than how a normal person might react. Unless in the future the twist is actually something that is more common place, but not yet legal.

This was a great movie. Sams performance is just mind-blowing

He reacted fine, for a few reasons.

Like Blade Runner there are two camps, neither are right or wrong, one is that Sam Bell had clones made of him. The second camp is that it was all in Sam's head, he had just kinda lost it being in isolation during all this time.

I go with camp one more so, but both are interesting. Sam Bell 1 looses it a few times, its just not right away, people usually will be in shock or doubt when something extraordinary happens. Actually that is one thing I loved about the movie most, it really did feel "real" in how some may react to such a situation. So if we are still going with the clone theory, there were many times that the two Sam's acted out, in different ways, Sam 2 went nuts and beat up Sam 1. Sam 1 definatley had some teary moments with Gerty, and he really lost it down in "the nursery" where all the other clones were kept.

But either camp has interesting points. But I feel Sam knocked the nail on the head with reactions to the situations in both lights.

I find the problem with the second camp is that there is never ambiguity. I feel the narrative forces us into the first camp, not even hints of it being otherwise.

Personally, I dont get the 'it was all in his head' argument with this film, to many things happened to the contrary in the movie to use this as a valid plot point.

For one, they found the other clone in the end, and Sam 2 DID make it to Earth, the news reports just before the end credits proved this.

Then there is his call 'home' seeing Eve, finding out his wife is dead, and when Eve shouted her dad, it was Sam's voice.

And then there is Gerty, outright telling Sam that he was a clone.

I'm sure there are many other also, but for me there is no way the movies events were just all in Sam's head.

Well there are things that point the other way too.

Though I go with the clone theory primarily, there are some hints that it was in his mind. First just him at the beginning, he is seeing things that are not there, including a older version of his daughter.

Sometimes GERTY's expressions and confusion made you wonder.

As well at the end, there is another guy that is claiming that Sam Bell is full of it, and says "next caller" so there is hints that yea he may have just been crazy.

And of course he talked about how he had issues he needed to deal with. There are some more I saw on another forum that had some good points. I like the clone idea better, but it is interesting to see it from the other view as well.

I will find more examples of the other side of the argument. But that is the fun of movies like these, its fun to look deep.

Just watched this today after receiving it from Netflix. WOW, what else can be said about this movie because I'm pretty speechless after watching this modern masterpiece. I've always thought Rockwell was a pretty good actor in films I've seen like Green Mile and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy but I now have a new found respect for him after viewing Moon, it's the performance of a lifetime.

I hope more movie studios take note of this film and realize that you don't have to be flashy or big budget to make a great film and hopefully we get more sci-fi films like this one. If you haven't seen this film yet I highly recommend you go rent or purchase it and hopefully you enjoy it as much as I have.
