After watching the android Human-Torch cameo in Captain America i wonder if they will explore characters from the golden age including Namor, Human-Torch, the original Angel and others.
When it was announced that the Invaders would be featured in the captain america movie i was very happy, but it ended up being the Howling Comandoes.
Should marvel try their luck with other Golden Age properties?

i always thought namor would be a cool character to follow throughout the history of the marvel cinematic universe. start in the golden age in the thirties with him foiling roxxon oil, fighting nazis and the like. follow him through the fifties, have some more howard stark goodness, show some seventies, other heroes and villains throughout the decades, i think it could be a really cool movie.

I agree, i think Namor would be the best to do this with, unless they want an Invaders movie... but other than Namor, and Cap/Bucky, no one really needs to have there own solo films. The invaders movie would be like the Minute Men in "the Watchmen" for the most part (but obviously with powers). I'd prefer Torch and Toro just get featured in flashbacks in a Namor or Cap movie, or any one else. If they did an Invaders spin-off, so be it.

they could also do a modern day Union Jack movie with WWII flashbacks of the family line.

I think Torch has a great backstory along with Angel (the original one that killed criminals) and after reading marvels and marvel project they could make some exelent movies, in fact they could even make a ovie for these 3 characters detailing their lifes trying to adapt to the deprecion and the public against most of them, unfortunatelly Torch and Angel are not very known, even with the comic book fans.
I heard they were planing a Namor movie as some kind of star wars under the sea

i really don't see Angel happening... at all. also, pulp comic movies have never faired too well in the movies.. (the Spirit, the Phantom, green hornet, etc..) infact.. the only one to really ever do well was Dick Tracy... and Torch i just don't see happening as a solo flick because people will just simply confuse him with the fan4, and he's also an android... a hard obstacle already for the general public to feel for. He's much more of a supporting character anyway. Not solo material.

Namor back at universal is where the "star wars under the sea" notion started. Which was like 8 years ago.. we really have no idea currently what marvel's plans with him are now.

I wish somebody could tell me who the hell owns the movie rights to Namor. I'd like him to at least show up in Cap 2 or FF 3 (whatever it ends up being called).

I still have fingers crossed for an Invaders movie one day

There are two things I've learned about Marvel studios. One is, they don't do easter eggs without purpose. They have a master plan. So I guess both a Namor and a Human Torch movie are very possible.

Human Torch is a character that i have come to like a lot and it's a shame that he wasn't used enough in the comics.
If they plan on doing a human torch movie i think that it will take some more time, i think that they will test the waters some more times with other heroes

Marvel owns Namor. Universal gave him back a while ago

seriously? confirmed?

..anyway.. on a pure fantasy level, I'd love to see it, but I see conventional hollywood wisdom, and marvel execs themselves, downplaying anything like this..

obviously Jim Hammond is not johnny storm, but "the human torch" is licensed to Fox for however long until they give up/expire the rights to the Fantastic Four (hopefully that will happen and they just concentrate on X-Men and the Daredevil revamp..), and Toro, well, if Marvel films tried to use him without telling Fox they'd probably get sued, ironically..

..Already, the Captain America film ignores any ties to other superhumans, though the years of WWII allow for a super-team to take place, if they wanted..

If and when J Michael Straczynski's "The Twelve" ever finishes, I wouldn't mind this being turned into a cable TV mini series, or a 12-episode special series.. HBO, Showtime, etc.

Yeah, Universal gave them back the rights around the time they gave Hulk back...

i would like to see the original human torch movie,he was an android with emotions unlike the vision. As the character evolved during different incarnations when being revived usually by the thinker or ultron 5 his love of life and his very existence became important. This at least gives the torch the ability to be more than a one dimensional character.Namor on the other hand if handled well is a fabulous character full of raw emotions and complexities you could have the quest, destiny, the loss and migration of his people across the atlantic/artic and obviously the dichotomy between fire and water. The torch and Namor,it could be a winner given a good script and budjet.

I allways tought that a movie set during this age about Phil Sheldon, the original Human-Torch, Namor and Angel, and their lives could be a very interesting movie

I completely missed the android Human Torch cameo. Can anyone give me a hint where to look for it when the DVD's out?

At the stark expo, there a guy in a red costume inside a tube

Fixed

I don't know about that. I think the reason they didn't fare well was because they sucked.

well.... there opening box office numbers sucked too... sooo..... that doesn't really show a demand

and LORD, hey... you're not suppose to post that image till the DVD release...

It didn't show demand because they saw the trailer and it sucked.

yeah... but since when has that ever stopped a genre film fanbase.. ? can we even call it that though? only one Pulp comic film as ever done well... and that was what.. 25 years or so ago?

I tell you what. When they do one that doesn't suck and it fails, then we can blame it on the genre.

I agree. There was really no reason for those films to do good, that's no indictment of the genre itself.

Fair enough. Though... what pulp comic characters like that are left? I mean... they could always reboot Dick Tracy and Dark Man (which both would probably do well due to there pre-established film base... but it will be probably even longer till we see a rebooted Green Hornet, The Shadow, or The Phantom....

i mean... we could always get Pulp Sci-fi like Flash Gordon... but I guess i meant more of the Noir/street level kinda thing
