Hi,
I just was wondering what movie franchises you wish the movie studio would of put more money/time in to make the great. Seems there have been some franchises that had potential to be good, but lack of support from movie studios it sunk the films. Or studio just threw out bunch of crap films to milk the money from us.

1.The Crow: 1st was great, couldn't ask for more, second was good. Then after that it fell flat on its face. Think like 2 more films that blew big chunks. Kindof sad, series had good potential to be good, but miramax or whoever screwed that up. I wish they would release the rights to another film company..:cmad:

2.Mortal Kombat; just looking at the thread got me thinking. Could of been a good martial arts franchise, but they blew it royally. :wow:

3. Starship Troopers; as corny as it was the first one was good imo. Reminded me of Robocop, which I think the writers or producers were part of that movie. Second one was terrible, not sure what happend to this series. Had good potential to be entertaining:huh:

4. Robocop; I liked the first two, dont remember much of third? Shame;had potential to be entertaining..:o

5.Terminator/Blade; Ya, first two were amazing, but both franchises suffered from just the last movie. WTF happened, they droped the ball on both these series.
Im sure ya'll can think of there movie series that kindof tanked after first or second installment...

Ghost Rider. It isn't even out yet and already I sense Sony is crapping on the project.

Fantastic Four, they could have made the 1st one sooooooo good, it ended up ok but it had alot of potential.
I hope the 2nd one is an improvement

Gremlins, needs more sequels.

If FOX had more faith in X-Men, then the franchise would be a great one.

so do i how about the new alex rider franchise?:ninja:

1. X-men: weather they are under budgeted (X1), or to over the top (X3), all three movies share two things in common, poor direction, and the total refusal to make there characters anything like they where in the comics, some of the greatest, and deep characters ever, even the side characters are made stale by the less than brilliant minds of Singer, and Ratner, and their writers, there is no reason these aren't the best movies ever, and they aren't, so they are easily number 1.

2. Jurrassic Park: Yes the first is one of the best movies ever, and the second is okay, but in just saying that I think that shows where the franchise is. The third is clearly a mail it in for the cash movie, and parts of the second feel that way too, hopefully Spielberg can do justice with the 4th movie...also any franchise about dinosaurs that has only 3 movies in 13 years, seems to me like it gets a bit to ignored.

3. Daredevil: It never even had a chance at a franchise, which is dissapointing, if they simply went page for page from Frank Millers man without fear, I garuntee they would have won an oscar for something...a character so strong, is reduced to one of the worst adaptations ever, I don't blame Affleck, Garner, or Ferrel...I actually think they should have let Affleck write it like they where originally going to do, cause you know he would have done it justice...but in saying all that, again with X-men, they had terrible direction, Mark Steven Johnson is the worst working director in Hollywood, I haven't seen Ghost Rider yet, but the style of the film looks exactly the same, I could have called it before I knew MSJ was the director, but Ghost Rider will suck, and again, its not Nic Cage's fault, its the studios fault

4. Jersey Films-technically not a franchise, but it kind of is, and there isn't a bad movie of the lot, when the worst is Mallrats you know you have pure and solid gold...all these movies for the most part make at least 10-15 million dollars, with the last 4 (Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob, Jersey Girl {if it counts}, and Clerks 2) all have made over 30 million, if I where a studio, and I wanted to make a quick 5-20 million dollars, I would ever 2 years or so, ask Kevin Smith if he wants to make any movies, and say he has under 10 million dollars to do so

5. Star Trek: Some of the greatest characters, and episodes in television history, spanning almost 40 years...but many of the movies, are less than stellar, with some more than notable exceptions (Wrath of Khan, Undicovered Country, Generations, First Contact, Voyage Home) Most are less than stellar, I even review some of the harsher reviewed ones more favorable (Inserrection) But I think a franchise that has a rough first movie, and a awful last movie, is a franchise not well taken care of (X-men). Granted, it has two of my 30 favorite movies ever in Khan, and First Contact, but just like X-men it should have 10 of my favorite movies ever

The Mariachi trilogy!

El Mariachi, Desperado, Once Upon A Time In Mexico- All near the top of my "most entertaining films."

And even though it doesn't exist, Cadillac & Dinosaurs! If it were turned into a film franchise it would make more money than Pirates. Must be done, I say!

More like if Rothman and Fox actually had respect for comic book movies other than his view that they're nothing more than mindless popcorn movies.

point taken:ninja:

First of all starship troopers wasnt corny. It was a satire of all those war ads in 40's.

Mortal Kombat- could have been an epic martial arts/fantasy franchise but it wasnt taken seriously enough

Highlander- could have been a geniunly good film in better hands.

X-Men- Singer was a horrible fit. This has been discussed a million times before so I wont go into it.

TMNT-I would have loved to have seen woo take over this series with the rubber suits and everything.

SW prequels- Should have been darker in tone from the get go and less jedi so the purge wouldnt have made them look so weak.

Those movies are underrated.

THE CROW.

That's it. The movie is amazing and has such a great story that can easily become a popular franchise. Man and his love are killed. Man comes back from the dead to seek revenge and make the wrong things right to be with his love again. Classic.

The sequels (all of them) were poorly made and it was almost as if they didn't try. Althought the original is a classic, it's only inevitable that it will be remade in the coming years, and I don't care. I'm interested in seeing a new version, and I know many people disagree because, "OMG BRANDON LEE. YOU CAN'T REPLACE HIM." I know. He was great, and would have been a big star had he lived longer. But I wouldn't mind seeing another person play Eric Draven someday. Maybe they don't have to do Eric Draven. Do another Crow character, but spend some money on the damn project. No more crap.

The Crow must live on.

The thing with The Crow is that only the first one was good. And honesty, I think it's disrepectful to make BAD sequels after Brandon Lee's death. I mean, if you want to make a series out of it, make it good so you can live up to Lee's performance.

Jurassic Park as a series is very uneven. THe first one was groundbreaking. The second sucked. The third one is better than the second one but still sucks.

If I had to make another quality sequel ala 'Rocky Balboa', it would be for X4, with some quality writers. Bring in Gambit. Make Cyclops come back if not, make his character significant to the school.

- Star Trek.

The most underrated franchise, IMO.

Hell. Yes.

I love these movies. :up::up:

The "Predator" films.
The Crow. I only mildly liked the "Wicked Prayer" sequel.

Serenity, and of course the failure by FOX to properly show the TV series Firefly, upon which it was based.:cwink:

For me it's
Death Wish
That franchise deserves more attention
Charles Bronson rules

Swamp Thing....the first movie had the right dark tone...but the suits were real bad. The second...the suits were better....but the tone was way campy and light.

They need to re make it right
