American Beauty

When it first came out everyone loved it.

Now, barely anyone can stomach it.

Spider-man 1 & 2 and X-men 1 & 2 apparently

Actually I think X-Men 1 has aged a lot better than Spider-Man 1. When they first came out, SM was easily the better film, but now I'm not so sure.

Metropolis and Nosferatu and also Voyage to the Moon by Georges Méliès.

i didnt know that. interesting.
i still like it. unique story and fantastic acting.

the use of color was also fantastic.

That's a given but you cannot watch those movies from a modernist point of view. You have to see them as a pieces of history and admire them for their achievements.

To this very day, I think the matte paintings and Maria of Metropolis, along with the creepiness of Nosferatu, are timeless and still effective. I DO agree because of their silent nature, they're a bit slow for my taste but I admire them. (I haven't seen Voyage to the Moon, but I have seen the Smashing Pumpkin's 'Tonight, Tonight' video :p)

The original Crow. I used to love that film was I was younger, now parts of it just seem so cheesy and 90's. Obviously just about any film that deals with a great deal of special effects is going to have a hard time standing the test of time from that end of things, but you do just kind of have to over look that. The scene in Terminator where Arnie is operating on himself so clearly looks like a puppet now, still love the movie though.

the star wars prequels, I was watching attack of the clones in hd on spike 2 nights ago and man does it look bad as far as quality. I kept comparing it to the clone wars show now on tv and the animation looks just as bad. The acting also is the same as the cartoon show, go figure the real actors were just as wooden as the cgi ones.

SM1 has maybe aged badly but I saw SM2 recently and it is just as amazing now as it was then. I actually watched the train sequence on monday (8th nov) and it still blew me away.

The other day I was watching Predator 2 and felt it had aged not so well in parts so I'll go with that. I still like it but when I compared it to Predator 1 the first film seemed to age better. I guess part of that is because of the different settings.

Rocky V is another one. It was really trying to be a little more hip and modern to the times and watching it now its clear that time was 20 years ago. The music really dates it.

I think TMNT 2 has aged more poorly than The original and I think the same is true for European Vacation vs the original.

X2 does not feel dated for me at all. XMen 1 is just kind of...just not as good at this point.

I think Superman: The Movie is a good candidate. I'm not talking about the effects, but the actual tone of the movie and what we consider to be acceptable in a superhero movie today.

Spiderman 1 just doesn't do it for me anymore. For one it has Macie Gray in it.

yeah, that was a huge mistake from raimi. musicians in movies instantly date the movie. the cemetery fight is still awesome though.

Same here. I'm actually not irritated that they want to do a new one that isn't a sequel.

Gremlins didn't age well in my opinion. Bought the Blu-ray a few months ago and while I still enjoyed it, it's not as good as it used to be.

I actually like Spider-Man 1 a lot better than the other two movies, considering I'm not a fan of that trilogy at all. Strange.

2010. It looks horrific on bluray too, whereas 2001 looks new, never breaks the illusion.

When I think of poorly aged movie independence day instantly comes to mind. When I first saw it I thought it was a really good movie and rewatching it I realized its terrible.

as a will smith fan i think teh joke still works.

American Beauty doesnt age well? I could watch that movie anyday and enjoy it. I just watched it last night but Blade Trinity doesnt age well suprsingly, not that its good but yeah.

Methinks that the internet doth eroded some of thine ability to take joy in things, my compatriots.
