Have there been any shows or movies that have had scenes shot in your hometown? I know as far as L.A. and NY it's common place, as well as Chicago to an extent, but what about others? The last one that was shot in Gary(my birthplace) was Original Gangstas back in 1996 :csad: Though I did get to see Fred Williamson, Pam Grier(delicious), Jim Brown, and the guy that used to star on the Jamie Foxx show.

damn I had this whole thing typed out then I actually read your post. well I'm from NY so I'm out...

I live in Staten Island (I know you all think "OMG, It's New York!", but it's not like that), and some of War Of The Worlds was shot there. Also, the scene in Goodfellas where Henry and Karen go trade guns while avoiding the helicopter was filmed in a shopping center I often go to. The same Jennifer Convertibles still stands. I wasn't born when it was shot, though.

Although I don't think anything has been shot here in Cherry Hill, NJ, but the city and state name has been used in movies with the movie actually shooting somewhere else. Like Harold and Kumar, and I believe, but I'm not sure, The Freshman.

I think the TV show Cracker once shot in a big house in the street next to mine. I thought it was Taggert but it might've been Cracker with Robbie Coltrane.

Some parts were of Bruce Almighty were shot in Buffalo, but it's really great for at least two big movies to have taken place and part of the way in my home time. Buffalo is a really great place to live. It's home. And Bruce Nolan's speech in Bruce Almighty says it best:

"Is it just a big cookie or does this cookie represent the pride of Buffalo? Our dedicated and hard working citizens the key ingredient, with a few nuts thrown in. And finally, the love of our families which provides the warm chewy center making our beloved Buffalo the sweetest place to live."

Just thought I should make a more detailed post, because I'm probably the only Buffalo guy on here.

The Good Shepherd, Mona Lisa Smile, The Family Man and The Preacher's Wife

Forgot Groundhog Day, The Ice Harvest, and The Blues Brothers.

Got it off a website :D

Well, I'm in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia so yeah a lot.

Evan Almighty was shot about 20 miles from my school.
In Norfolk, I know of one that was shot from walking distance of my house in a movie called Rollercoaster. It involved a terrorist who blew up rollercoasters. The amusement park (Ocean View Amusement Park) actually blew up one of the rollercoasters for the film (It was scheduled for demolition anyway, the park was going out of business). Part of it was filmed in Kings Dominion, which is near Richmond.

I was born and raised in Durham, NC, so there have been a few (although the entire state of North Carolina is the third most popular place to shoot a movie, behind Los Angeles and Canada):

Dawson's Creek
Zooboomafoo

Kiss the Girls
I Know What You Did Last Summer
Leatherheads
Immortal
Billy Bathgate
Bull Durham

Atlanta...
ATL
Diary Of A Mad Black Woman
Fled
The Gospel

Athens
Road Trip

In downtown Toronto, lots of movies get filmed here. Cinderalla Man, Sentinel, X-men... I remember my mom was saying a restuarant she goes to was completely renovated, and when she asked them about it, it was because they filmed that Hilary Duff movie in there (The one with Diane Lane I think).

I live in NJ, so basically everything from The Sopranos was filmed near me. They have a sign up at the gas station they used in the final show right now that reads "Phil Leotardo Got Whacked Here!" :oldrazz:

I work in NY, so I've seen a lot of stuff being filmed....lots of Law & Order episodes, I Am Legend, all 3 Spiderman movies (I work right near the library where Uncle Ben was killed), Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor were filming a movie at a park near my office a few months ago.

And recently, Bruce Willis was filming something in my office. He walked right by my desk twice. :wow: :woot:

Bridges of Madison County. My mom saw Clint Eastwood at a Hy-Vee.

Edward Scissorhands. Filmed in my friend's neighborhood. We weren't born yet though.

Remember that X-files episode where Mulder meets an old man who tells him about a black baseball player he had met during the civil rights era that turned out to be an alien? They shot part of the episode near my home because we have an old fashion baseball field here, equipt with classic advertisements and everything.

Sweetness, that's one of my favorite episodes, "The Unnatural."

I live in Austin, so lots of Rodriguez, Linklater, etc. is shot here. Some off the top of my head...

Sin City
A Scanner Darkly
Waking Life
The Quiet
The Life of David Gale

Unfortunately I still haven't gotten to see the actual filming of any of these. :(
