My old player just died and I'm in the market for a new one, and refuse to buy any iPod type of player due to my hate for Apple. My preferences are something with superior quality of sound and easy to use interface. It doesn't have to carry the ability for video or photo's. So far the only one that I have found that interests me is that new Creative Zen X-Fi, does anyone know of it and if it's any good? Money is no object for me so fire away.

I was going to get the Xfi as well the other week (but they manged to fix my old one! dammit) Looks pretty cool, large memory and Internet access to boot

I have a 4GB SanDisk Sansa.
Small, easy to navigate menu, fm radio and voice recording abilities.
No video, no pictures, just a multi-line menu screen.
Fits easily into the palm of your hand or pocket and has a clip to clip on the strap of a bag.
cost me about $60 (Canadian)

Ipod :woot::woot::woot:

What's the sound quality like, how would you describe it, does it have an equallizer?

it has an equalizer, but I wouldn't say it has the best sound quality.
It's good enough for me, but it's still a cheap mp3 player really so take that how you will.
If you say money is no object, then obviously you'll get better sound quality for more money.
If you use it how I do, just to listen to tunes around campus it works fine.

I'd rather not get in to it, there are a few stories :csad:

Archos:
touch screen / button usage
music player
video/pictures
WiFi capabilities

not half bad

Creative labs looks really good and I bet that you won't have to use certain software like stupid iTunes

I'm still leaning towards the ZEN X-Fi, I just need to round up the funds after christmas (unless someone buys me one as a present *prays*), thanks for the suggestions people

I really liked my Creative Zen Microphoto when I first got it, and still use it on occasion. Quality company, just harder to find things for it.

I always swore I'd never get an iPod, but not gonna lie...I have a new 16 gb Nano that Spoons gave me as an early Christmas present, and I freakin LOVE it :O

My first mp3 player was a Creative Zen V plus with 4 gig of space. I bought it last year and it was pretty good. Then earlier this year, a button broke in half and fell inside the player. I had to use a fingernail to move around. Then the on/off button fell off. No attempts to reattach it were successful.

So yesterday, I bought a new mp3 player, an 8 gig Sansa Fuze. Under $100. Even easier to use, though it took me a while to figure out how to stop it from causing Winamp to crash.
