Ms. Marvel becomes Captain Marvel

"Functional"? There is absolutely nothing more or less functional between Carol's new costume and her black suit. Did I miss a memo that said that the difference in function is determined by how much leg a skin-tight body suit covered?

I think they mean the costume looks more professional as a uniform than the one piece suit and long boots. I can see the 'flight suit' direction'. That is a good thing if you can to be called a "captain', but the mask is too much and...

it's the Miracleman costume.

Seriously, sashes are lame. The ghost of Corsair should haunt anyone in Marvel who wears one.

Corsair was her friend, and comrade-at-arms. Maybe she keeps it to honor her days as a Starjammer.

All that costume was was wank material, just like Witchblade's "armor" and Invisible Woman's 1990s suit.

I never took Witchblade seriously. She was wank material, not matter what her story was.

This is like the most she's been talked about like EVER

What costume? Can you post an image? (sorry not too familiar with him)

Miracleman aka MARVELMAN (in the United Kingdom)

Really? That looks nothing like Ms. Marvel's new costume. Her new look however does bare alot more resemblence to the costume of the original Captain Marvel, whose mantle she is taking up

It shares:
Overall blue color
Red gloves
Short blonde hair
Central insignia with yellow touches
Red color around the collar area.

Oh yeah, they're macking on Miracleman. If they wanted to retain the original Captain Marvel uniform they wouldn't have reversed the overall red with blue.

It doesn't make a difference if they look alike, Marvel owns both characters now. It's not like they're ripping anybody off, except maybe themselves.

Thats quite a stretch and I dont think they tried to emulate her after some character who's irrelevant. Maybe they reversed the colors to give her something similar while still being different? They already gave her a very close feminine replica of his look. This works more like a reverse color scheme of Captain Marvel's iconic look and contains elements from her previous costumes.

Its the same dark navy blue he had.
The yellow central insignia is his same star burst which she once work herself and that color was kept up with her lightning bolt in the black suit.
Her first costume had a red scarf which was on the collar area.
This also has a red sash like her black suit
The shoulders kinda remind me a bit of her Homeland Security look.
Its a full body suit now with pants like her Binary costume
Red gloves were on her Mutant X costume

The new look is an amagalm of the original Captain Marvel's costume and her own looks over the years

Stretch or not, it's shares a lot of similarities with a character whose named originally was Marvelman. Fans argued that Black Panther was just another copy of Batman, despite the difference in details. The same can be said for this character.

It's not a bad costume, it's just that her best known costume was soooo much better.

Although fans arguing Black Panther looks like Batman would be pretty stupid.

I quite like her new costume. I'm sure Carol will appreciate not getting camel toe all the time. Not sure about the hair but the outfits pretty cool. She looks like she could hang out with Iron Man, Captain America and Thor.

She was able to stand alongside Cap, Tony and Thor anyway. In the "Live Kree or Die Story", she was heavily featured and crossed over into 2 out of 3 of their solo titles.

She's Marvel's premier super heroine if you ask me. That title used to belong to Storm but she sucks now.

Susan needs to go back to ****ting it up with the FF uniform with the cutout 4.

I think Marvel's premier heroine should be someone who is in a title of her own. Sue Richards has always been thought of as part of the Fantastic Four, and yes, by that token she ought to be the first lady of Marvel.

However, I do think that Ms Marvel (yes, with that name) has the potential to be Marvel's premier heroine and Wonder Woman equivalent. I never really thought Storm was that, because she is always part of the X-Men.

In the late 70s/early 80s, Spider-Woman was often marketed as the premier heroine in all of the adverts and promotional material. She-Hulk has that potential too, but both of these are usually just thought of as female equivalents. Since Carol is always the one who is around and more popular instead of Captain Marvel, I think she has surpassed her namesake as a stand-alone heroine instead of being seen as a female equivalent.

Ms Marvel's classic costume is iconic like Wonder Woman. They should stick to that. Also, Captain Marvel sounds more like a man's name (it has been usually associated with one). It never seemed to fit on Photon and it doesn't fit with Carol either. Ms Marvel is just more attractive and feminine. It's often almost pronounced like Miss Marvel (or could be mistaken for that instead of Mizz Marvel) and therefore has that attractive beauty queen sound like Miss America/ Miss World or strong bodybuilding sound like Miss Universe. The name "Ms Marvel" almost tells the world that she is Marvel's premier heroine. It's like she's won that honour out of all of the Marvel women to become Miss Marvel. That's why I think Ms Marvel is an infinitely better name than Captain Marvel for Carol.

And that's why I also think Ms Marvel sounds better than Warbird or Binary. Ms Marvel has that "Superman" type sound, just like Iron Man also conveys. Iron Man goes beyond just being a man who is made of iron, but has all the connotations of strength and other associations with the Ironman triathlon, which is why Iron Man sounds better than War Machine.
