MSN Virus

I friend just sent me a message on MSN asking if it was alright to put a picture of the two of us on myspace and facebook, and there was a link to imagehost.

I opened it, and then my MSN started to flash and I couldn't control it, but it opened windows for everyone who was online.

I signed out and in again, and apparentely I had sent links to all of them. Some clicked on the link and now too have the virus (including my grandfather, who sent me the link automatically with a message saying "Hey dude, do you want to see the pics of me and the ho?"

I'm on my laptop now while my desktop runs a virus scan... what else can I do to get rid of it?

System restore to before the convo.

Uninstall msn

remove msn

defragment your pc

restart your pc

run virus scan

restart after scan detects or doesnt detect a virus

re-install msn

After all that my virus scan found nothing, and MSN for fine the next day.

Nah just grab something called CCleaner. its on Download.com

It just sounds like you were hacked to the point of putting spyware on your computer. Thats all no virus

i love ccleaner

At least it hasn't affected me, i use AVG 7.5 and NOD antivirus, Spybot, Lavasoft Adware, spyware blaster, it can be a good recommendation. But i never open any files ended with .zip in msn or strange linked messages.
