So I started up my computer tonight and it was fine as normal, checked my email, checked my comics website and then BLAM! Everything refused to respond. I tried opening Task Manager to close my windows, but it refused to open.

I restarted the machine only to have it instantly freeze up on me just after the desktop loaded up. So I restarted again to run a virus scan. While I was able to open the AVG program to start the scan everything refused to respond as soon as I clicked "scan".

I had thought open safe mode and virus scan from there, but I dunno. Help me please Hype? Please?

EDIT:
So I just ran a virus scan in safe mode, but it was saying on a lot of things "Locked File. Not Tested." I'm not sure if this is normal as I've never run a virus scan in Safe Mode before. It says all is fine, but these "locked files" are confusing me a bit. I tried to start up normally again, this time I was able to open up Firefox and get to Facebook, but then it refused to respond and then nothing responded, not even the start menu. Had to shut down using the power button.

Might be that something is over heating if dust and stuff gets on your fans it slows the computer down. You still running a laptop? just get some air in a can and blow it around inside.

The last time I had a mess up like that was due to bad Hard Drive & had to get a new one
