I hate music theory. With a passion. Of course, that's probably because of all the stress I associate with it. I cannot learn this crap from a book, and my music teacher spends more time gabbing away half of our classes than helping us learn it.

I have an exam for a class, and I have no idea what I'm doing, basically. I need to learn things step-wise (no pun intended), but this is impossible from reading The Elementary Rudiments of Music, the workbook I've been given.

I have to figure out how to invert intervals (but there aren't any other notes from which to invert!), then do triad invertions (how the heck do I know the difference between a first or second invertion? It could be the third or the fifth, and how can I tell which note is the root if it's inverted?)

So, if any of you music people out there could help me... please do. I'm completely lost here.

What you do is take your root and find the third and the fifth. You can get triads like that. To get the inversion, start from the fifth of the root, then get the third and octave.

I don't know much about chords, but hopefully other people might now that this will be on the front page.
