Music- What Are You Listening To Right Now?

I've recently fallen back in love with the music of Frank Sinatra, and with no end in sight. I've been snatching up everything I can find by him, and my most listened to albums are the wonderful three cd set The Capitol Years, the 2 cd The Very Best Of and the 5 cd Vegas boxed set.

There are others, but these are the three that get the most rotation currenty.

Rammstein, Tool, Slayer, Nine Inch Nails, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Primus.

right now, I'm into more of the Japanese pop, orchestral, and modern rock

Two CDs that never get old for me:

The last CD I picked up, and that I've been listening to quite a bit:

apathy's cd baptism under fire.

also all of STP's cds are also in constant rotation at the moment... perhaps i need to stop tripping....

Korn, A Perfect Circle, NIN, Dimmu Borgir, Tool, Cradle of Filth, Opeth, Devildriver, In Flames

I have a new respect for you there Tony...

BTW- if you want one Sinatra CD for your car that covers most of his best stuff (so you don't have to haul the box set around)

Pick up "Sinatra: Reprise"...it's top notch :woot:

Since doin shrooms a few months back, lots of Pink Floyd. Comfortably Numb is one of the best creations of man and the second guitar solo will melt your face

I went to a White Stripes concert last week, so I've been listening to them a lot and of course I've constantly been listening to The Who for the past year and a half.

That was the cd that got me into Frank. I also love the A Man And His Music set where Frank talks about each stage of his career and performs a selction of songs from them.

Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Come on, now.
I hear youre feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I cant explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

Ok.
Just a little pinprick. [ping]
Therell be no more --aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. good.
Thatll keep you going for the show.
Come on its time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

Those lyrics and that song alone changed my view of music.

Man and his Music is a fantastic cd...and if you like those, check out some of the Rat Pack compilations...the live stuff from the Sands is hilarious...they give each other such crap and have so much fun...

I have the Members Only cd recorded at Villa Roma in 1962. Once you get pack the pedstrian packaging, it's a gem.

I also consider the Live At The Sands cd with Count Basie to be the best live album ever.

Last song I listened to was Loser by Beck. Not a big Beck fan, but he does have good stuff.

Right now I'm really listening to Zeitgiest, the new Smashing Pumpkins album. Really good, Tarantula is now one of my favorite songs.

Absolutely, when I drink once and a while I'll get the spins and the way I solve that now is by listening to Comfortably Numb, puts me right asleep.

Great movie, saw it once and have thought about it many times since, great piece of film to analyze

Duncan Sheik, Cake and since I saw Jonny Lang.

Johnny Cash, Disturbed , Beach Boys, The Beatles

random old country(like willie nelson none of the modern country crap)

'Bout time someone agreed with me.

I also think Frank deserves more credit for inventing the Concept Album back with Nelson Riddle in the 1950s'. In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning (which I need to get) is the concept album before anyone knew what it was.
