My Artwork

well, a bunch here I swear I've seen Alex Ross do, like the Sinistro. Which isn't a bad guy to be learning from, lol. Good job, duder.

These are just some Batman sketches I did using the Batman Begin's style as a reference.

And as for some of my picture's looking like alex Ross's, it's not that I copy any of his artwork, I simply retain that same loose, realistic style he uses. I do that really because that's the kind of art that I like to look at.

those batman's are great. i think my fave is the first one in the top row

Yeah, that was my brother's favorite, too. It was also the easiest one. The one on the bottom right was the most difficult. The angle kept giving me problems.

These are some colored pencil pictures I did about a year ago. The proportions are a little off, the lighting a bit dull, and the compisition's rather boring. But even so, I still like the way the color and texture came out.

This is just a simple image of the Flash. I didn't want to go to nuts with it. I was just looking to get a sense of speed. Let me know what you think.

I think this may be the cleverest take I've ever seen on the character...it's certainly unique. Great stuff you've got going here. I'm not a big Alex Ross fan( tho' his stuff is technically brilliant) but you have a more comic oriented approach. I like it alot!

I love that carnage one and I don't even like carnage.

Thanks for the compliments on the Venom and Carnage pics. Even though they were done a while ago, I'm still pretty proud of them. I have two oil paintings of Venom that look a lot better. I'll post them as soon as I hook up my camera software to the computer.

This page was part of a 5 page consecutive pencil sample I submitted into IDW a while back. Let me know what you think, and if you want to see the other four pages, I'll post them, too.
(The artwork isn't all that great, but I was more concerned with coherency.)

This is a B/W of Black Adam. His left shoulder is a little screwed up, but I still think it came out pretty decent.

Remember to give me some feedback.

Sweet Jesus keith_v! You artwork is awesome, good job! Keep it up, can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Very cool pictures.. they have an Alex Ross feel. I really like your style.

you do have an Alex Ross feel to your work. I think it's overall pretty sound I think there a few anatomy things you could work on but overall your work is very nice. I do think you could bump up the contrast, especially in the black and white work. I think it would just push your work a little further and add some umph to them.

I had the same problem in school, I my work was kind of muted and the same tone there weren't enough really dark darks or enough really strong highlights.

Here I used your Black Adam and boosted some of the contrast in Photoshop using the Brush tool just to show what I mean.
(I put your original beside it for comparison)

I do see what your saying with the contrast. I know I should make it stronger, but I have the tendency to keep the shading very close to the reference I'm using.(In this case, it was a soccer player.)
My problem with the anatomy is that nearly all of these pictures were done without any rough draft. I just picked up the paper and did the image without little preparation other than the reference images.

But I do appreciate your comment on the contrast. I'm working on an Iron Man picture that definitely utilizes very strong lighting and deep shadows.

Using reference is good but sometimes you have to push it a little farther. I used to have this problem too, thinking if I kept working I would wreck the piece or whatever.

The anatomy stuff isn't a huge deal it could use a little work but it's not like something hugely noticeable. It's not like your guys come off looking like they gorilla arms or anything. Maybe doing a quick gesture or guidelines under the intial painting would help, in a light pencil

Your work is good though and I do like the Flash image a lot. The only thing I would say about that is to add some cools into the shadows a little, especially on the legs as his head an leg kind of look like they are on the same plane.

Thanks.
This is probably my best painting. It's an oil on canvas.
(I know, the spider is wrong)

The picture is kind of blurry because trying to stay steady on an object that close is not that easy.

And this is a pencil drawing I did of Venom. I used this drawing as a reference for the painting.

This is the painted version of the drawing. Unfortunetly, the picture has a strange bubble effect.

Tell me what you think.
