My Blueberry Nights (new Wong Kar-wai movie)

I love Kar-Wai and I was very much looking forward to this film, albeit I'm not so big on him doing English-language films. It's gotten some bad responses after its premier at Cannes.

For anyone who isn't familiar with the director, check out Chungking Express, Happy Together(best film of the decade), and Fallen Angels - they rank among the greatest of the 90's.

I'm interested in this woman travel cross country, confused about this love thing though.

Nat looks like she has scored herself a really good role, love her character from the trailer

It didn't do that well as Cannes I heard but I'll still be looking out for it, its got a great cast.

I still can't wait to see this.

Just finished watching this. I thought it was pretty good for Wong Kar Wai's first English film, but it was hurt by its dialogue. The story was a little generic but it was a good story, but again hurt by the dialogue. A highlight of the film was its cinematography. It was just absolutely beautiful to look at and the lighting was just fantastic. This movie also had some great performances. Rachel Weisz and David Strathairn definitely steal the show with the little screentime they have. They were fantastic. Jude Law was servicable in his role as the Cafe owner, nothing special for him. And Norah Jones did an alright job for her first time acting, but she really wasn't given much to do and say, even though she dominates the screen in this movie. She seemed to just sit there and watch everyone else, but she didn't hurt the film at all. Natalie Portman also did a very good job in her role. But again, as is the theme in this little review, this is somewhat hurt by the dialogue. So basically it comes down to this. This is a good, but flawed film. This isn't my favorite Wong Kar Wai film, but I wasn't disappointed and would watch it again. I recommend it to any Wong Kar Wai fan.

I can't wait for this. Easily one of my most anticipated of '08. IMDb says the limited release for the US is next week. Hope we get it here in Austin.

I think you will like it. It's not his strongest film, but it's pretty good. It's just beautiful to look at.
