I personally do not like the idea of a Jack and Barbossa movie. They are great characters, but they do not work alone. They are fun characters, but when you take out Will and Liz, the entire thing collapses. They were the pillars, the substance. Jack and Barbossa are just sort of the flash.

If I had my way, Pirates 4 would be a prequel focusing on the life of a young pirate named William "Bootstrap" Turner and his first adventure with Captain Jack and the crew of the Black Pearl.

The movie would revolve around Bootstrap assisting Jack and his first mate Barbossa in finding a map...a map that will lead to the mysterious Aztec gold.

At the same time, they are racing against the clock against other pirate lords who are also in search of the map.

While Jack and Bootstrap begin somewhat of a partnership, Barbossa begins his behind the scenes work with the crew of eventually betraying Jack.

The climax of the film, will be the a climactic battle among the black pearl crew and other pirates for the map...eventually, Bootstrap and Jack get ahold of it and take off in the Black pearl w/ crew.

The 'surprise' ending would be with Jack being mutnied against and Barbossa taking over as captain. All of this happened during the night w/o Bootstraps knowledge.

Something along those lines is what i'd like to see as we'd not only get an introduction of the young Bootstrap, but also get most of our favorite characters back...Jack, Barbossa, Rigehetti, Pintell...perhaps even Gibbs as a soldier of the Royal Navy as they pursue the other pirates?

I personally would love that. Taking out most of the supernatural elements (while leaving the cursed treasure as a back story) would give a really good opportunity for the series to get back to what made the first one great, a high seas, swashbuckling adventure.

Can't believe I haven't posted in here yet lol. :D

I want a fourth.

Jack and Barbossa after the youth thing, with new characters maybe a female Captain of a ship as well.

And they mention Will and Liz, but there is no point of them in these films, they story is over in a way unless it is 10 years into the furutre.

Otherwise Barbossa and his Crew and Jack and his which is just Gibbs lol.
And new characters.

but I would love another film, they left it open for another one.

I feel the same.

They could bring back the supporting characters, just get new leads.

Elizabeth and Will's story is over in my opinion. Jack and Barbossa have potential for a 4th movie thanks to the ending of At Worlds End.

I like that, alot.

They left it open, but I bet there wasn't a specific reason for it.
It was left open so the sense of adventure would seem to continue past the movie. So it would leave with it's head held high. So it would end with a positively and enthusiastically.

As for there actually being a 4, people do have to think about it. Why would Pirates just go on and on? Disney wouldn't do it. It's just like X4 and Spider-Man 4. They say that they are in consideration and will happen, but we all know that it more than likely won't happen.

spider-man 4, 5, and 6 were already announced, a guy is writing the screenplay for the fourth one. The studio already said they will do a 4th with our without the original cast.

A fourth may be a slim possibility, but we'll see.

It's never slim as long as there is a fan base and the franchise is successful. It really wouldn't take much at all to make another with Disney's mindset.

i don't think not go end... it keep going 4,5, and 6 .. there billions idea for that movie so kkeeep going!

Sparrow is such a great character, I would watch 50 movies about him. That said, I think they should let the franchise end, go out on a high note. I loved these films, I don't want to see them ruined by overkill.

I agree about the Jack part and Barbossa as well!!

but I think there is a good chance of a fourth film, they left it open as big possibility so I think they should, if the same writers and Director are there then it will be just as good

The problem with that one situation is Gore Verbiniski doesn't want to come back at the moment. In interviews, he's stating that he is done with PotC for a long while.

More SHREK, Maybe More PIRATES

If Dreamworks was still carrying around the old SKG moniker, the "S" would most definitely now stand for Shrek, not Spielberg.

When Jeffrey Katzenberg left Walt Disney Studios back in 1994, the company was just beginning to catch on to the made-for-video animated "threquel" via its 101 Dalmatians franchise. After his departure, it went on to find more success with this practice with protagonists like Cinderella and the Lion King.

But Katzenberg has now officially moved way past that milestone with this week's confirmation that there will indeed be at least a Shrek 4 and Shrek 5.The head of Dreamworks Animation told Australia's The Age newspaper that families can look forward to a pair of ogre adventures.

"It's a finite story, has been from the beginning, and I think that's part of its integrity, part of its strength that we're not thinking it up as we go," he said of plans to make one of the two future installments a prequel. "Ultimately, we'll come back to understand how Shrek arrived in that swamp. We'll reveal his story."

But it's what Katzenberg said next that is really worth remembering: "the first Shrek saved the company [Dreamworks] financially, and we're here today because of it."

Over on the Pirates side, producer Jerry Bruckheimer – currently busy with a second National Treasure film – isn't so sure what's going to happen with Captain Jack Sparrow. "We've been working on this trilogy for five and a half years, and the latest one was a monster," he explains, hinting in the Los Angeles Times about the Bahamian production toll of the endeavor. "It's always about making sure you have a great story with interesting plots, themes and characters. There is a possibility, but we'll see what happens."

Perhaps Mike Myers can play a role in a future Pirates film, in exchange for Johnny Depp voicing the Shrek films character of a porcupine. Sound like a fair deal, gents?

We'll see if Sony really does do 4, 5, and 6 of Spider-Man.

I won't be surprised if they do. A track record is a track record. Consider for a fact that they were actually considering replacing Tobey at one point due to his injuries.

As for comparing, this kind of contrast is a different situation entirely yet the same. Different studio, different rules or the same depending on their take. Keep the Spider-man stuff with the Spider-man stuff and the Pirate's stuff with the Pirate's stuff.

But if it's profitable they'll play it forward in some ways, either in spin-off material or movies or TV series. As long as the property is in their name, they'll do what they must to sell it.

Well, it was confirmed yet again! Johnny Depp is coming back for a fourth! Wether it's a spinoff, a part four or a prequel is undetermined. Confirmed we have Johnny (I think I heard Geoffry Rush too) and we no that Orlando and Knightley have called in quits.

Buh, buh, buh, bulls***.
I don't believe it, and I don't want to believe it because there does not need to a Pirates 4, sequel or prequel. POTC: DMC is the most overrated movie in ages.

Thanks for the spoiler about Will. :down

As much as I don't usually agree with you on the PotC sequels. I find myself agreeing with you here.

The biggest part of the reason why is there isn't a single source backing up this statement. Added to the fact, that media outlets would eat this kind of stuff alive.

Sorry kiddo, nothing has been officially announced by the studio.

Plus we already have a PotC four section. Lock it, merge it, do something. We really don't need another one.

Did you check the date, this is from like Jan.

Wow, that post was old. :csad:

Thank God! Jack and Barbossa were always the best characters, so...

a movie about their race for the fountain of youth would be awesome.

the fourth should just be called Captain Jack, and he should be the only returning character
