For under-age alcohol possession (he's 19) in Massachusetts. He has no record. He is wondering what will happen to him if they will pursue the source of the alcohol as well. Hes got court this week.

Any idea?

I had the exact same charge. Exact same circumstances with a clean record.

Same age as well.

You can look it up online.

For me in VA

its 500 hours community service or 500 dollar fine

go to 5 AA meetings

Attend ASAP (Alcohol Safety Action Program)

Suspension of License for 6 months

Price wise And what I did

I paid the 500 dollar fine (Bc i was already busy in school)

Have been to seven AA meetings ( two of them to help a friend)

paid 225 for ASAP class

Paid 30 to be the only one in class randomly drug tested

108 to have license reinstated

It also made me a very angry an bitter and self loathing person:dry:

Hahaha... Ever do it again?

Do it again? I still am that person. :csad:

My friend got a dui recently after me in him both had underage possesion so I was like I'll be damned if I re live that hell.

It was great to get my license Back. I got it back on June 12th of 2008 and The Incredible Hulk was having the midnight showing.

You can only imagine how great it was to get my license back... then go see the movie of my favorite comic character.

Man, I got busted with possession of Marijuana when I was 19 and all they did was suspend my license for 6 months... with work and school privileges. Granted I had to pay to have the license reinstated, but all of that seems pretty insane.

Of course, I've since quit smoking pot when I became a believer in Christ and I'll never go back to it. It looks like you get off pretty easy in Ohio when it comes to this kind of kind stuff.

However, I know the state takes anything alcohol related pretty seriously.

**** that's a crime? Don't they usually just hit you with a phonebook and call it a day?

To those who its happened to:

Did they pursue the source of the alcohol? And was it dismissed upon completition of the classes?

So I'm guessing, wild guess, Excel you were the source of the alcohol?!

I plead no contest. It was taken off my record when everything was completed.

They did not ask for the source of the alcohol.

Then what is the problem? At most, he rats out some dude's brother or cousin, gets a nicer deal out of it.

Damn. I'm sorry to hear that. If he were north of the border it would have been perfectly legal. :awesome: I guess that doesn't much help your situation, though. :(

He is curious what it being "dismissed" even means. Will it still be on his record?

Laws are a little bit different in each state. If a minor has alcohol here, they just get an MIP (Minor In Posession) and are given a ticket and sent on their way. I however, lied about my age so I got carted off to jail. They do not investigate the source of the alcohol unless they have some sort of proof where it came from. In my case, they did not. I pleaded no contest, got some community service, had to pay fines, had to attend alcohol classes, and was put on probation for 6 months. After all that, it was expunged from my record since it was a first offense.

I feel your pain Chaseter

*raises glass*

My brother gets out of jail Monday and my best friend got a dui Thursday.

Well it's your brother's first offense so it won't be too bad but the license will be gone for at least 6 months.

You guys are so strict with some things.

We drink down here so the alcohol offenses aren't that severe. That is crazy to me that someone gets carted off to jail for having a beer under age.

Isn't America the only country that looks at alcohol the way we do?

This bring sup the old argument. You can die for your country, but can't drink.

I think 21 is a bit high for booze. Make it 18. Kids (teens) already drink at like 14 up anyhoo.
