This thread represents the universe of characters I've been creating and working on over the past five years - there are still some story details I need to revise and clean up and edit and that stuff, which is taken a long time because I've never been much of a writer. Much of this universe runs along the lines of parody, spoof, and satire, all bent to my own skewed views of the real world and the fantasy world of comic books.

Anyway, first up is a sharkoid character I created who's sort of my 'split personality', for lack of a better term (I don't think 'alter ego' quite fits in this case). Basically, all the stuff I can't do, he can - unfortunately, in his lingering geekiness he also discovers that being a superhero is not an enviable job. The backstory for him is here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36329226/

The cute little redhead there is the geneticist who created him - or rather, created his new body - to begin with, who invariably tags along with him on various escapades to keep him in line (and to save his inexperienced and somewhat-reckless neck when he gets in over his finny head). Because she deals in using genetic engineering to patch up and 'improve' marine creatures harmed by man, her job makes her a nexus of controversy and a target of protesters, so it helps for her to be able to defend herself. :woot:

In addition to working in healing injured sea life, this genetics firm also utilizes specimens to collect data for top-level government officials, which affords the company certain privileges of association with the U.S. Armed Forces - our sharkoid hero, authority-flouter that he is, can barely tolerate Uncle Sam constantly getting on his back, but he tolerates it nonetheless because he realizes what's at stake when they DO need him. Some of these 'privileges' are a more than a little unethical, but they have their benefits - like pimping his ride with hidden surplus weapons components, as reiterated here: http://jochimus.deviantart.com/art/Carcharadon-Concept-75793791

Anyway, this is just a smattering of stuff relating to my main character. I have a bunch of villains I set up just for him, too - you wanna see'em, just say the word. :yay:

Its pretty nice but his overalls don't really look like they belong they kinda look 3-d o and I like the car and colors

^

Yeah, that piece was done when I was starting out on Corel Draw where normally I'd had access to Photoshop, which is why I had trouble getting the texture right on his overalls.

Speaking of villains, here's the first one who comes up to bat, in his original form (as per the origin story I created that's intended to be a spoof of every lame-a$$ shark movie ever made). There's a bit of history to it here - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36509743/

Poseidon_Mark_I_by_Jochimus.jpg

After that, a couple more villains are introduced one at a time that my sharkoid faces, ultimately coming back to our mechashark here, whose still-functioning remains have drifted across space, come in contact with advanced civilizations and technologies, and rebuilt himself to return to Earth in a bid to put those technologies to use wiping out the humans - AND the sharkoid - that done him wrong, as elaborated here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36395677/

Poseidon_Mark_II_by_Jochimus.jpg

As part of his revenge scheme, my mechashark concocts an elaborate trap - an orbiting theme park staffed entirely by robots, in keeping with the retro-'70s motifs incorporated into this version of the character - in a bid to lure our hero to his doom, as I elaborate upon here, http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36527281/ , with a very rough pencil sketch below of what the station looks like:

AIERO_by_Jochimus.jpg

Much later, our mad mechashark resurfaces (no pun intended :whatever: ) in Japan with the intent of mining for a dangerous radioactive ore and using it in another plan to wipe out all of humankind. To keep our sharkoid busy, the mechashark even goes so far as to resurrect his old body design as a separate creature, re-working it to over twice its size and re-designing its mechanics in tandem with a super-advanced submarine that he built from alien technology he gathered for his previous scheme, and resulting in the creation of the beastie below, identified here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36526224/

No, not yet anyway. I'm still trying to polish up the script for his origin; beyond that, most of the other backstory stuff can be found on my deviantART page (see link below).

OMG!!!!! I have had a character in mind for LONG TIME who would fit sooooo perfectly with your story it is truly unbelievable!!!! It is like you were reading my mind with your character--seriously....I will work on a drawing to show you and maybe you could include her in your universe???

Here's the second villain I created to go up against my sharkoid - according to the basic story framework I've developed up to this point, his introduction actually ties into the geneticist's personal background. Some of the creative decisions that led to this one are explained here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36615801/

Marlin_Giggles_by_Jochimus.jpg

Incidentally, I re-phoneticized his last name as noted by the asterisk above, but my sharkoid still mispronounces it whenever they meet just to be an a$$. :woot:

Anyway, here's my croc-man with a few of his underlings...detailed upon here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36373217/

And another of the comely baracudess there :woot: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41834093/

And here's a lil' Lego model I did of their car - which can be adjusted from a four-seater to a two-seater to allow for quicker escap-er, I mean, travel, featured here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41908354/

Here's a villainess I created who's a little more human - I blew this up from a smaller piece of art that I had inked, thus explaining the poor line quality, but it gives you a general idea of where I went with the design, as I clarify here, http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36779588/

Mother_Goose_by_Jochimus.jpg

Basically this character initially poses as a benefactor to children, but in reality is a crooked businesswoman who also doubles as one of the most powerful crime figureheads in this universe I created. As part of her operations she appropriates various advanced technological developments her entertainment company (you'll notice a few of my Rogues' Gallery here have a predilection for taking advantage with America's obsession with pop culture - a bit more of that satire I was aiming for, there :woot: ) for her underworld operations. There's a little more info on it here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36501280/

Other_HEAL_Drones_by_Jochimus.jpg

Of course, chief among her amusement-machines-perverted-into-criminal-implements is this, which can alternate as per her specifications from a detainment mechanism to a pretty handy heavy-duty exosuit, as I explain here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36501049/

that shark looks like something from sea lab 2021

this looks awesome!

Another villain I came up with for my sharkoid to fight - elaborated on here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36462518/ . This guy's mutation was caused during an attempt to apprehend him by the great-great-grandfather of one of the sharkoid's co-workers at the genetics lab...which happened over 150 years ago. :wow: :woot:

__Cactus___Dawson_by_Jochimus.jpg

Here's one of my killer cactus here getting an uppercut from my sharkoid - as shown here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36739832/ . Notice that the stuff pouring out of his mouth is not so much blood as it is sap. :oldrazz:

Tumblin___Tumbleweed_by_Jochimus.jpg

Of course, a bona-fide Old West outlaw is nothing without his mount, and here she is, identified here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41338377/ . I originally was going to draw her as little more than a giant Venus Fly-Trap, but then I figured that just wouldn't do it, so I took a direction that made her mutation similiar to his.

Dawson_And_Petula_by_Jochimus.jpg

yet again, you make me feel crap, because I can't draw and you are wonderful:(

yet again, you make me feel crap, because I can't draw and you are wonderful:(

Well, you don't learn with that kind of attitude. :csad: It took me years just to get to this level. :cwink:

Anyway, here's another of my villains, with her backstory at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36500461/ . This one actually evolved a few times before I got her to a point where I was satisfied with the end result.

Highroller_by_Jochimus.jpg

Here she is arguing with the killer cactus over whose turn it is to make a puppet out of the lab administrator, detailed here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/38465496/ . This was an aspect I added to this universe to add more humor to it - by having a sort of 'soap opera' satire to various rogues and their interaction with each other.

Tug_Of_War_by_Jochimus.jpg

And after a while - after she's gotten her plans thwarted by the sharkoid about a dozen times - my mad disco queen here figures it might help to have underlings who have at least SOME conscious thought of their own, so she creates special helmets that she grants to four handpicked ex-cons, creating a supervillain team to go up against him - whom I identify at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36968971/ . Later on they resurface on their own accord, without her leadership.

Hey all, here's some more villains for my sharkoid character _ I meant to continue posting these, but got sidetracked with other projects.

Anyway, here's a creep who figures prominently in the sharkoid's origin - he's kind of a Steve Irwin type, except this guy's more of a moneygrubber and a bit of a fraud - and as seen here in one of their early encounters, he starts out a tad scrawny and scruffy. Some of the inspiration for this character can be found here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36581480/

Save_The_Sharks___Or_Else_by_Jochimus.jpg

Some time later he reappears having beefed up and cleaned himself up a bit, so as to give him a more respectable physical presence when facing off with the sharkoid (and make him look more like a real true-life heroic figure). Here he's seen wearing the 'honorary member' garb of the supremacist group that hired him to try and sabotage the sharkoid's creation in the first place, elaborated upon at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36779169/ - and again, this was scanned from a smaller ink scribble, thus the poor line quality:

Derek_Tauer_by_Jochimus.jpg

Here's his frequent co-conspirator, being interrogated by the sharkoid, as emphasized here:http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36579470/

Feeding_The_Fishies_by_Jochimus.jpg

While I'm at it, I may as well toss you some more villain concepts I've been letting sit the last couple weeks :woot: :

An assassin-type here getting his arm broken by my sharkoid in their very first encounter - as detailed at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36479063/ - not having realized the guy in the shark costume isn't wearing a shark costume at all. He does, of course, and following this he switches from his 'Agent Smith'-type getup here to something more along the lines of that freaky-a$$ Snake Walker character from "The Muppet Movie" - that guy always creeps me out.

Beach_Bodyguard_by_Jochimus.jpg

Here's a Metallo-spoof getting his head knocked off (don't worry, that don't stop him), with his backstory here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36780724/

Don__t_Lose_Your_Head_by_Jochimus.jpg

Here's an intergalactic crime lord who's sort of a riff on Darth Vader - his story is here http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40952031/ . I realize none of these characters seem particularly original, but then this particular branch of my "universe" is supposed to be one big hodgepodge of homage, spoof, satire, parody, caricature, and farce anyway...basically taking influences of the cultural influences I grew up with, mashing them together and reinterpreting them the way George Lucas did.

Count_Uber_by_Jochimus.jpg

Another Fantastic Four parody, only I added three members, made them all evil and made all their powers fire-based - in fact, they all pretty much have the same powers, as I touched on at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40961872/ :
