My Heroes

Looking at your work as I scroll down the page, I can already see that you're improving fast. A couple of suggestions for your Grindstone drawing. You should make his foot bigger and change the angle of it to make it a bit more side-on and line it up better with his leg. Also, the forearm that's delivering the punch should be brought in closer to the elbow, with the muscles bulging out from that point and narrowing as you progress towards the fist. And we should see more of the back of his hand on that fist.

I don't know how coherent those suggestions were, but hopefully you get what I mean. Excellent work on Grindstone so far, though. The anatomy is pretty good. Keep it up, dude. You have a lot of potential.

Thanks. It's been many years since I've tried drawing like this. Probably close to 12 years. I never was that good but hopefully I'll get there with time.

In your tips, do you mean to make his foot point to the left, or right?

Here's the next step that I've drawn. I'm not too good on making outfits for my characters, but these will probably change. I plan on coloring this one when I get done.

Awesome! That looks like my first version of Drop Hammer. Nice. I changed him up a bit in that second pic, but I like that. I can't believe you took the time to do that.

They are just quick sketches

Nice Arcweld! You are making my day! I wish I could do that. What program do you use for coloring?

You can do it. They took about 5- 10 min each.

Photoshop

I have photoshop elements 3.0, but I'm not too good with it. Do you use layering when you color? I don't know how to do that yet.

Never used elements.

Does it allow you to create layers?

If so go to View: Channels

Dupliucate the blue channel and hit ctrl + i

then go back to layers and create a new layer

got select: load selection choose the duplicate blue channel

Paint black.

Now your pencils will be seperate from your background.

Create layers for each color and go wild.

I can do layers, but I've never used it so I may have a few questions. I'm at work right now so it'll be a while. I appreciate your help.

Also, how did you make his electricity look fuzzy like that? It looks cool because it seems like you are focused in on Arcweld and focused out of his electrical power.

Like I said just quickie.

I blurred the layer with the electricity.

What do you do for a living?

I'm a male prostitute. I mean, I work at a hydropower facility as a senior operator. Well, I say "work", but I'm actually just sitting here.

KAD, I've tried to figure out how to use layers in photoshop elements, but it's not the same as yours, so I didn't really get anywhere with it. Everytime I tried to make a new layer, it would write over top the other one. The first layer I made did work, where I could try to color on top of the black lines but it wouldn't color over them. But, after I tried to make another layer, any thing I did would color over top of everything else. I've tried several different things and I can't figure it out. Anyways, here's what I have so far.

Elements must only allow 1 layer

Wow, thanks. :) Elements allows several layers, I just don't know how to do it yet. I may order one of those "Dummy" books to help me out.

I re-colored Whirlwind. I still don't know how to use layers in photoshop elements. It's getting pretty aggrevating.
