$#*! My Dad Says

Total viewers didn't fall off much but the demos plummeted again.

Pilot: 4.0
2nd: 3.2 (18% decline)
3rd: 2.8 (15% decline)

That's a huge falloff to happen in three episodes. If it drops into even the 2.5 range then it's around where Gary Unmarried and New Adventures of Old Christine were and things didn't work out so well for them.

New Adventures of Old Christine still got like 3 seasons and like 90 episodes.

I kind of hope this show sticks around.

That's awesome but I was talking about New Adventures of Old Christine.

Damn. Bad show but I can't help but feel for Shats character every episode :(

'Yes, Dear' and 'According to Jim' are both proof that crap shows can thrive for years, despite being said crap.

'Freaks and Geeks' and 'Jericho' are proof that great shows can die prematurely due to a lack of viewers.

Sometimes though, the stars align, and a crap show that deserves to die a quick death does... so I have full faith that in one year no one will remember this was ever on the air. Probably not even the Shat himself.

As you noted 'crap' is a matter of opinion. :cwink:
I for one don't share your opinion. :oldrazz:

The new 20 second promo is up for the all new episode 4 of $#*! My Dad Says for this Thursday.

Ed at a karaoke bar that should prove painful for all involved.

All new episode, #4, tonight in roughtly 2+hrs on CBS at 7:30/8:30c
Entertainment Weekly is giving $#*! My Dad Says an early positive standing among the freshmen class.
With the early ratings in, we look at what's winning fans and what's losing ground. ... Everything old is hot again. ... new programs showcasing TV veterans like...William Shatner ($#*! My Dad Says), meant far more to TV fans than new entries...

Hopefully this type of coverage bodes well to either lure some early dissenters back or convince those sitting on unwatched DVR'ed eps to get actively going on watching the show.

It's third episode dropped a modes 6% from the prior episode and had 9.8 million viewers. I'm hoping to stay above 9.6 million for tonight. I'm thinking a stabilization, if its going to happen, will start here.

Even if it stabilizes at its current levels, that still makes it the weak link of the six CBS sitcoms.

There was a time when even The Big Bang Theory was the weak link and that show had about an 8million viewer average.

No reason to assume that $#*! couldn't do likewise. Too early to say it could as well, just saying that calling it the weak link when other now top sitcoms were once there or worse isn't a mark against it.

But, again, demos are more important than total viewers. Even when Big Bang was only getting 8 million, their demos were still averaging 3.0 or higher. $#*! already plummeted below that in just three episodes. If they fall any farther, they're in Gary Unmarried and New Adventures of Old Christine territory, both of which were canceled last season.

Also, figuring out the weak link is important, unless you think CBS has no intention of developing any sitcoms for next season.

No argument demos are important. They can save a show with low viewership.
I'm just saying cancelling a show with an average of 8-10million viewers is a lot of eyeballs to get rid of. After 4 eps $#*! has an average of 10.7 million viewers.

On that note, Zap2It.com has the viewership numbers for last night.
$#*! My Dad Says (10.1 million, 6.1/10)

$#*! My Dad Says saw its first increase with episode four after losing viewers from the pilot through three episodes. Last night drew 10.1 million viewers. An increase of around 10% from the prior episode.

TBBT lead the demo with 4.1 but that is the only one they reported. Where are comprehensive demo #'s reported? Be curious to see if there is a corollary with viewers up if demo is up. It was when it was going down.

It looks like it had a 3.1 which is a good increase for it. If it has can hold those numbers then it'll have a better chance to get renewed over Rules of Engagement at least. The other four sitcoms are still well ahead of it though.

The problem with that is we're talking about CBS. Almost all of their shows get those kind of numbers, so they can afford to be picky. Several years ago they canceled Eleventh Hour even though it never fell below 10.3 million and was even as high as 15.5 at one point. Because the demos were actually pretty bad.

A show that isn't as strong in the demos is in danger regardless of total viewers.

Loved Shatner doing "I'm Too Sexy" at karaoke but only after shooting down the "Rocketman" suggestion :awesome:.

Here is the 20second promo for episode 5, new tomorrow night, of $#*! My Dad Says.

Glad to see that, at least in the promo, they are again getting the action out of the house. A produce stand is a natural place Ed might be, perhaps that will turn into a semi-regular place. I was concerned the show runners might trap the characters in the house.

Curious to see if the ratings & demo both see any type of uptick tomorrow lack last week saw.

Man this show is awful but I've only watched the first two episodes. Is anyone around here still watching this? And does it get better in quality?

The first couple of episodes after the pilot the chemistry starts to come together much better with Ed and Henry. The pilot was uneven, imo, due to them recasting the role of the live in son Henry. The married son and his wife are very hit and miss still but they do start to flesh out Ed's background more. His navy buddies drop by in the 6th or 7th episode. Henry goes on a few dates that are intereting.

Last nights episode with Cybil Shepard as a self help guru was good. It bounced back after having a one episode drop off after the last several weeks of rising. It's averaging over 10 million viewers and around a 3 in the demo. So just cause this board isn't always bumping the thread like Glee isn't indicative of how good/bad it is.
Try out a few more episodes and report back.

Watched a couple of eps and this show is growing on me. Shatner is in top form, there's great chemistry between Sasso and Sullivan, and the young kid is pretty solid.

Me being a writer, I kinda like all the writing refrernces in the series and how it details the struggles of freelance writers. Yep, you need more than one job to write.

The ep with Cybil Shepard was GOLD. Hope they keep that momentum up, cause CBS has the makings of a Solid Thursday line-up.

Apparently they just nominated all the new comedies. One show that's already been canceled, another that's on the brink, and one that's universally regarded as a steaming pile of poop.

Except for Mike & Molly and Raising Hope, none of those shows are even likely to get a second season.

Tbh I have never heard of the other nominees
