$#*! My Dad Says

Apparently they just nominated all the new comedies. One show that's already been canceled, another that's on the brink, and one that's universally regarded as a steaming pile of poop.

Except for Mike & Molly and Raising Hope, none of those shows are even likely to get a second season.

Universally....riiight. :nono:
It amuses me when people pass off thier opinions as facts. Even if this board has a few in your corner its still not a universally shared opinion.
There are over 10 million viewers for the show, if there was 4 million(like Lone Star) then you'd have a statment.

NBC is going to keep Outsourced. Thursday is now going to be nothing but comedy. I predict they keep it despite its ratings.
$#*! will also get a second season unless it suffers post-Holiday drop off for some reason.

People's Choice Awards.... wow.... that's almost as prestigious as the Emmys...

.....

:pal: :hehe: :funny:

Last year's Favorite new TV comedy for the People's Choice award...GLEE.
Now who feels stupid?

I was talking about Outsourced with that statement.

Outsourced is no lock. It's changing timeslots and the numbers it gets there are far more important then what it has done so far.

:pal:

Probably anyone who wastes a half an hour of their life each week watching dreck like '$h!? my Dad Says.' Or anyone who takes the 'People's Choice' awards seriously? :whatever:

So People's Choice picked Glee last year? Well even a broken clock is right twice a day. But People's Choice is no indication of quality, just popularity. In fact the nominations aren't even an indication of popularity, they're just choices pushed by the network. Look at the list of Best Comedies for 2007. Go ahead, I'll wait:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/34th_People's_Choice_Awards

Such classic long-running shows as 'Back to You', 'Carpoolers' and 'Aliens in America' are there (the latter two I had never heard of). The ultimate epic fail there is 'Cavemen', which was the comedy disaster of the decade. That was the universally-panned show starring caveman from the Gieco ads. No one liked that show. People made fun of how bad it was on late night TV. I think 'Back to You' lasted a whole season, the other two didn't even last a whole season and 'Cavemen' was cancelled before it could even complete its first order of episodes. No one looks back on those shows fondly today, but they were the nominees for the People Choice New Comedy Show awards only three years ago. May $*!t follow in their hallowed footsteps and last 8 or 10 episodes.

So.... who feels stupid now? :whatever:

Yeah, I already knew other PCA winners in that category. Point is its a PEOPLES CHOICE and sometimes, like last year with GLEE it finds a CRITICAL love as well. Not like EMMY and OSCAR actually pick the film that audiences actually liked best. :whatever: Big Bang Theory was overlooked before it became a network darling. So, yeah what the people like vs the critics does matter some, which is better than nothing. I don't see critical darling Lone Star getting any awards...oh, wait that's cause the PEOPLE CHOSE to ignore it. :cwink: See what I did there?

Oh, and $#*! My Dad Says has not only aired 9 episodes already but the 10th airs this Thrusday. That would be because it has a full season order.

I'll give you one of these since it suits your failed wishful statement.

Stupid is as stupid does....keep it up. :oldrazz:

captain craig, I swear you're a studio-plant or maybe you play some minor role on this show or write the abominable scripts. I don't know any normal person that cares this much about this terrible show. It's almost funny. You say "sometimes" the PCA also awards a critically acclaimed show as well. Unfortunately this is not one of those times. I hope you have a quick, speedy recovery from any future nervous breakdown you endure when you find out $#!& is not getting renewed for a second season.

^^^
I consider it an honor to talk so well of a show to be considered a 'studio plant'.
I love the old "I don't know anyone who____, therefore I'm right" :hehe:
I don't know anyone watching Mike & Molly, doesn't mean it's crap but I wasn't impressed with fat joke after fat joke. Hell I'm sad to report most of my coworkers are 'reality show' junkies but I digress.

I'll worry about a second season come April. I'm just a happy fan who takes some joy in seeing pretentious entertainment hounds like yourself get worked up over a show you don't like surviving beyond a point you'd already picked as it's demise point. :oldrazz:

When he first showed up, I thought Craig might be a plant too. Then I remembered that this is $#*! we're talking about. The people behind this show aren't that creative:oldrazz:.

There's also a rumor going around that $#*! actually didn't get a full back-9 but instead only got 5 (CBS didn't release the numbers, just said they got picked up). If that's the case, the show is likely to get pulled early and replaced by Mad Love.

So, anytime someone new shows up and talks against the grain of the most frequent posters who've made themselves the defacto authority around here the person must be a plant. Gotcha.

Rumors, schumors....however it unfolds it still has done better than Lone Star and half a dozen other shows. Around here $#*! has already won even if it only gets 18 episodes period.

It was more that you joined right before the premiere and talked about it using cut and paste from articles about the show. But, again, I don't actually think you're a plant, nor do I really care if you are one, so...yeah.

Also, no. That's not winning. That's failing slower. No show with 18 episodes is considered a "winner" at anything.

^^^
Cause no one ever cuts and pastes. It's done all the time for everything from Nielsons, Demos to high critical praise. I chuckle at your assumption that gives cause to discount something that's borrowed.

So I joined right before $#*! and yeah I was excieted for it but using that logic if I had joined just before say, Prince of Persia or whatever and been just as eager for conversation I'd be a plant for that as well. Come on now guys.

I was talking about "winning" vs what this board thought it would do. However though.
Just for sake of argument I present Firefly, 13 episodes.
That got a movie made, despite its own success or lack thereof.
Point is 13 episodes + movie is one heck of a successful failure.
Not saying $#*! is bound for the big screen just countering that 18 episodes is some measure of success in the current environment where 90% of new shows often times don't get 9 episodes.

What part of "I don't actually think you're a plant, nor do I care if you are one" are you not getting here?:oldrazz:

Actually, the PoP thing would have depended on if you disappeared right after that. The jury would obviously still be out on that here.

Not really. I expected it to get a full season because that is what CBS usually does with sitcoms. It certainly didn't help Accidentally on Purpose last season.

Not when the movie bombs too.

No it's not.

I actually enjoy this show. I'm a little confused why Ed gave Bonnie the bulldog last night. It was a new show...but Bonnie already had the Bulldog in earlier shows. (Ed fawned all over it.)

don't ya hate when networks air episodes out of order :p.

Yeah. It was very odd that something like that was approved.

It's official. $#*! is being pulled early (Feb 21) and replaced with Rules of Engagement on Thursdays and Mad Love in the overall schedule. It's pretty much a death knell for any small chance the show had of getting a second season.

Funny how quiet Captain Craig has been ever since this news broke...

Well in all honesty I've not been on the boards or any news sites to have seen this news till just now. When I have been on boards it was for movie talk. You know Holidays and all, better things to do.

A shuffled schedule is no immediate cause for alarm. Rules has been shuffled before and is still around. Lie to Me as well. This isn't an immediate death knell. And even if it was my show fared better than most new shows.

I think everyone just is upset that critical darlings like Lone Star got canned and I got 16 or so more episodes of TV fun.

You can keep going to that well but no one here really seems to care about Lonestar much anymore. It pretty much sucked too.

Also, super, stay positive. However, you should probably notice that $#*! isn't being shuffled around in the schedule. It's being prematurely REMOVED from the schedule so that other shows may shuffle. For that to happen to a show in their first season is about as loud a death knell as they come.

He's in denial. All he wants is for the show to get enough episodes for syndication so that he can Tivo it a million times over.

If the show is canceled though, he will go on a murderous rampage at the CBS TV lot.

I wish I was as invested in the show as you guys seem to think.
"Go insane"
"Murderous rampage"
LOL :word:

Do I like the show, sure but shows come and go. Is it fun to root for one, yes but I'll find another one.
You guys are at least AS funny as the show at times.
