I am currently working on a short horror film (well not really a film cause its being shot on digital video with an XL2). The name of it is The Call.

Plot: a young woman gains conciseness and finds herself being held captive by a sadistic serial killer. While imprisoned in a dark decrepit old basement, she stumbles upon a cell phone left behind by a previous victim and tries to get through to a stranger who has more of a connection to the plot of the killer than she realizes.

Here are some pics of our actress Tania with the blood applied to her. She is also a theater major.

And this is the look that we're going with for our serial killer. (I'm sure some of you will recognize who we based the look off of)

Hm.

I'm not blown away, but it looks interesting.

Your actress is cute.

Did you base the look off Sylar?

Sounds pretty interesting, though the 13 second clip didn't give us much to go on. I look forward to seeing more of it.

Oh and that Sylar is a real prick, first he steals peoples powers and now he terrorizes cute girls for ****s and giggles, for shame.

The reason its only a 13 second clip is that we haven't finished shooting the movie and I don't have too much to edit right now and I didn't want to show anything real juicey yet until I have more of a completed product. I especially don't want to give out too much information that could spoil the ending in anyway.

I plan on giving out free DVD copies of the rough cut to people when its done, so if anyone is interested, stay tuned.

Cool...though it doesn't look original in anyway...

No not really, but the plot description is very different from what really happens in the movie to keep from spoiling it in anyway.

Its only a 10 minute short. I'm really only thinking of this project as practice but I hope I get a good product in the end. I'm getting anxious about getting it done.

And at least I got a hot girl in it. That'll get most people to watch it.

Good luck Brendan. I am a filmmaker too. How old are you?

Don't worry, I'm not bashing you, it's only a minor criticism. It's just I feel that to steer away from being a stereotypical film maker you have to come away from the stereotypes like gangster films and horror films...UNLESS they turn the genre on it's head and you add different concepts and ideas.

But keep up the good work regardless..I can understand that you want to do this for a practise short film and that's good. It'll be easier to create your own ideas once you've used other genre conventions and a various source of demographics.

Sounds cool.. good luck with it :D

I guess I kind of agree with you that horror movies are losing their originality. A lot of the ones coming out lately have the "same **** different movie" vibe. Plus there is the countless number of remakes that are put out each year.

But there still are some gems that come out every once and a while that are able to take the conventions from previous movies, do something a little different with them, and tell an entertaining story. 28 Days Later is a good example as well as Se7en and Audition. I guess the good things about those movies is that the main focus is really set on the characters more so than the horror.

Looks OK ;)

I dig Sylar,so i'm guessing i'll like his movie!
