Is it just me or was this movie ahead of its time for the comic book crowd?

It definitely was. I wonder how different it would be had they made it now instead.

I always found this movie pretty crappy, to be honest. Aside from some of the jokes here and there, I thought it was a campy, damn near unwatchable mess. Shame because the concept was good and there was a lot of talent involved.
