When you shop for items, do you need to have the name brand of a particular product, or can you opt for the lesser known and possibly cheaper brand? Sometimes the cheaper one can be of lesser quality, but oftentimes it could be just as good and you're merely paying for the name. I just decided to buy 4 bags of "Coco Roos" for 1.00 each today at the store, which are basically the Malt-O-Meal version of Cocoa Puffs. :awesome:

Do not buy name brand milk...it's all the exact same. I did my internship at a milk plant and it's all the same facking milk but with a different label on it. I am sure that is the same for almost anything. I buy generic meds, I buy generic food, but I do not buy generic electronics.

Sometimes I buy name brand, other times I buy the generic store brands because I know they are just as good if not better than the national name brand.

I usually buy the name brand on most things. I'm not opposed to trying the generic ones but more often than not it's not as good. Plus, when I'm buying things that aren't food products, it's easier to find reviews on the name brand items and also they usually have a larger/easier/more well known support system.

It depends on the quality of what I'm buying. A lot of times the off brand stuff tastes better or lasts longer than the name brand stuff. Sometimes the name brand is really better.

If the difference in quality is obvious I'll buy the name brand other than that it's generic all the way.

It depends on how much money I have on me at the time.

I agree I have found some to actual be better. Why spend more for the name. I buy what I think is the best product. It doesn't matter if it is the national brand or store brand.

I have nothing against 'generic' brand food like cereals or other things (love the cereal in the bags :woot:!) but the only thing I will NOT buy 'generic' is cola like pepsi or coke, I have had generic root bear and lemon/lime (sprite/7 up/sirrea mist) and liked it.

Most of the time it makes no difference to me. I have found however, that the Ingle's Cheerios ripoff tastes literally like sawdust.

I usually get name brand for food & drinks (besides milk & OJ), while I get generic for most cleaning supplies. Since it seems like my grocery stores just repackage the brand supplies & put their logo on it. :P

I'll agree with you on the milk and electronics, but when it comes to meds and food, they are a bit different.

With food, generic doesn't taste nearly as good as name brand. My gf recently bought a bag of generic cinnamon toast crunch and it tastes like crap.

With meds, I was trying the max dose I was supposed to be on, but it was the generic and still wasn't working. My doctor put me on the name brand and I'm fine now.

The differences aren't huge, but still noticeable.

Word to the wise...do NOT purchase any medication from Walgreens that is their own personal blend of Wal-whatever. Wal-Dryl, Wal-Tussin, etc. It won't end well.

Clothes - Name Brand: They last longer.
Electronics - Name Brand: Same reason.
Food - Name Brand: I know cents add up, but when the math is five bucks difference, who gives a ****.

I'll just cut to the chase; I'm a "Name Brand" *****e.

It depends on what I'm buying. With some things, the name brand is better. With other things, the generic is just fine.

Generic cleaning products, food, drug store items (band-aids, pills, etc.).

Name brand clothes and electronics.

My broke ass buys the store brand or generic brand at the grocery store.
