NARUTO heading for the PS3

Oh yeah. I mentioned that because since Budokai 2 way back when, every DBZ game that has come out each year the "It looks even closer to the anime then any game before it" comment is ALWAYS made in the reviews for the games.

Then I see this and it puts all that to shame.

Did you guys see the latest gameplay videos of this game? I swear i'm gonna have an orgasm from playing this game!

I just finished typing this in the E3 thread, but they have a video demo on the PSN of it atm under the "E3 2008" section. It looks...amazing, seriously they have perfected cell shading IMO.

On top of that it looks to expand past just a 2D fighter as you fight Gaara in his Jinchuriken (however you spell that) awakened state. Showing Naruto dodging those air bubble shots, fighting something that huge, it really is very well done. Not counting this game seems to have a LOT of moves to it as Naruto did a Kage Bunshin no Jitsu throw deal on Kakashi. Also has a sequence of buttons activated summon deal and so on. I'm really getting impressed with this game.

The demo rocks! I thought the Dragon Ball Z demo looked amazing but this is simply outstanding. It looks exactly like an anime and its amazing how they've managed to translate the look. The animations are superb as well. Im not a Naruto fan but this is one demo that is tempting me towards checking out the full retail game. Its pretty fun and its been a while since we got a great demo up on the PSN

I downloaded the demo. The game is pretty damn impressive graphically, a total mess when it comes to game play though. I don't know. It just seems like its made for kids with ADD or something. Mash the same button them watch an animation.

I don't know. I just dont see the fighting system being complex at all. I will try it a few more times before I delete the demo though.

I am playing with an arcade stick too. Playing with the PS3 controller was ****ing horrendous.

Just tried it myself, I'm actually impressed. I expected it to be a 2D fighter like the DBZ demo was, and it's actually 3D. Push triangle once then punch to do a jitsu, 2 triangles then punch to do an ultimate. O to punch, rapidly to do a combo. Square to throw shuirken, triangle then square to throw shuirken laced with chakra. X to jump, triangle then X to dash. L2 and R2 guard, L1 calls in a friend, R1 calls in another. It seems straight forward.

However the demo showed you fighting much bigger things as well, and it will have a story mode. Honestly at this point I'm sold. It started out showing good graphics, but didn't disapoint on gameplay like the DBZ fighter did. Not to count the graphics did hold up, it's not like the demo showed a CGI trailer, the graphics are as good as promised which is rare.

Had a little more time to mess with the demo and really liking it now. (this is for those that haven't tried the demo yet).

You have 3 bars of health, when reaching the last you enter a special state. With Kakashi you use your Sharingan, which allows you to occasionally auto dodge. As Naruto you get to be a 1 tailed Kyubi, this changes almost all of your moves. Both states are nicely done and unique.

When you hold a direction and hit punch you do a different attack. Like Kakashi summons a pack of dogs, and Naruto does his kick into the air combo.

When you both of you hit an energy move at the same time, like Naruto's Rasengan and Kakshi's Chidori/Lightning Blade, you go into a button mash deal.

When you hit your Super move (triangle, triangle, punch) you go into a cinematic deal. During this time you and the opponent are shown certain buttons in a specific order, the more you enter correctly the more damage you do, or less damage you take if you're on the receiving end (kinda reminds me of hand signs).

Damn me an my nephew were playing the demo last night and it got to the point were we were moving so fast it acually felt like we were looking at the anime. The only thing i wish is that the combo system was alittle more complex but there on the right track. My favorite thing to do is call out (Sakara and Suske <-- spelled worng) at the same time throw 2 clones at him then charge Rasingan up too full power and BOOM!!!!!! lol. WE keep countering each other on almost every hit.

If i were judging the game by the DEMO i would give the game a 4/5.

I'm not sure how much more to expect, but according to one interview the demo didn't include everything. Apparently there will be more moves and more awakened states. So the combo system might go a little deeper. Also from what I understand you will be allowed to assign whoever you want to the shoulder R1 and L1 buttons, and that R1 I believe will have your ally do a melee attack and L1 a jitsu (or vice versa, forget which it is). So sounds like using your friends and putting them on the button that suits them most could add some strategy as well.

Also something happened yesterday that I didn't realize you could do. I did a charge up punch on the computer (hold o down, goes into a cinematic when you hit with their face contorting) and it sent the comp flying back onto that rock structure to your left when you start out. The comp actually stayed on it and I hopped up, so apparently you're not just limited to the grass and water, but can fight on the walls as well. I just thought it was a nice touch.

FWI If you super punch them into the side of the mountain you will jump onto it and be able to fight on the side of it.
Does any one know when this game comes out?

What’s funny is that I don't like anime/comic based games because they usually suck but after playing the demo I was decided to give this game a benefit of a doubt. When I play it feels like Marvel vs. Capcom meets Smash Bros in 3D.
.

It comes out the 4th right? Definite buy for me.

Another nice thing I've heard is that the developers are going to be giving free DLC all the way into next year. Every month they will put up a new character for downloading, they will give new missions, etc. It starts with Tsunade's assistant Shizune, then ppl like Asuma and Kurenai, and ends with Tayuya and the other 4 from the Sasuke leaving arc.

I've also watched videos on Konoha village, and it looks big. Also apparently you can do side quests to learn new jitsu's and upgrade items like kurenai and throwing stars.

This is a hard hitting few months tho lol. Fallout 3, Naruto UNS, Bioshock, LBP, all coming out so close to eachother :(.
